Florida Racing History.com Continues to grow...

If you don't have anything to do tonite, head to www.floridaracinghistory.com and spend awhile re-living the past... I now have over 1400 images on the site not including the ones on Boneman's Florida City Speedway site which you can link to thru this one... I'm still in dire need of old photos (pre-1990 for now) from Ocala, Citrus, Bronson, the Jax Tracks, Winter Haven/Auburndale, Samarana, The old Lakeland half and quarter mile tracks, Lake City and Columbia... Also anything from St. Augustine... I would like to create albums for these tracks but don't have much to go on... If you have images, either scanned or unscanned or would like to know how you can support this effort, feel free to e-mail me at announcerdave@usa.net
Some new stuff "old" stuff just put on today:
1) Will Cagle - shot from the early '60's, track unknown...
2) Dale Mixon with his 1953 Plymouth Early Model Slant-Six Plymouth at Eau Gallie in 1969... He showed up at Golden Gate one Saturday night and lapped the field... Frank Dery gave him the $$$ and the trophy and politely told him to never come back...
3) Another Plymouth... this one a Hobby Stock Car at West Palm from 1971 driven by Roy Nobles...
4) Mel Hoff at Eau Gallie in 1968 - He was a pretty good driver and even better in Demo Derbies... His sponsor, Prater Radiator is still in business and only one block from my office in Orlando...
5) "Grandpa" Jerry Buchin at Hialeah in 1971

Dave, love your history stuff...brings back a lot of memories for me in the 70s and 80s, plus I get to see guys and cars that I'd only heard of when I was a kid.

I have some pics from I believe the last year that Lakeland ran the 1/4 mile, I think 1994 from a USA Series race. Randy Fox, Keene, Cope, Gertsner in our car, Kenny Vaughn...will those work?

Thank you so very much for allowing some of us to relive and revisit the past... I really feel that it is beneficial for the younger drivers to see what racing has come from... I have always enjoyed history, but this kind of history is exceptionally wonderful... Thank you so very much..
