29 cars, nearly every top-notch LM in the state is here. Very few 'slow' cars.... pretty much all top notch teams.

Ivedent Lloyd sets quick time wearing a throw-back paint job that is a tribute to Buddy Powells last car in 1983.

Nice touch for this race is a 6 lap Dash that pays $500, 300, 200 to the top 3 in that Dash. Nice money for 3 miles...!

Rain stopped. The track looks like its soaking it up like a sponge. If it doesn't rain again, I think the track will not only make it through, but in possibmy better condition.

Ocala rained out, and now some of their racers are showing up here. About 4-6 so far, but no clue what cars are in the trailers.

Whitener, over a fast closing Lloyd, and even faster closing Clegg. Bobby Richardson did a great job of chasing down the top 3. Clegg looked quickest in this group.

Darryl Padgett smokes the field. R Van Sickle runs 2nd

Allen gets 3rd over Kellum who rubbed paint with Jackie Nosbisch for the transfer spot. Nosbisch goes to the B along with Cecil Eunice who plowed high on the start & never regained his ground.

End of the Heats. Not a bunch of passing, but track is coming in NICELY from my view. No dust, no ruts, the groove is widening.
