Well, Speed51 has a "new and improved" web site... The thing is total garbage... Too "busy" and hard to navigate... The same thing has happened with other sites like NASCAR.com and ARCA.com... Guess many of us like things simple rather than full of interactive crap and twitter feeds... Good websites like this one are getting harder to find...
WE'VE MOVED!!!

Another Web Site Gets Screwed Up

Speed 51 has always been all about advertising and then slipping content in where ever there was room left over.
Funny thing is, just like the NASCAR site ( and their marketing dept. ) everything is being changed to appeal to the younger generation. But the younger generation never knows because they aren't interested in stock car racing. So the real fans are being pushed out, and the new fans aren't coming in. Where does that leave stock car racing?

Maybe the coolest piece of the whole thing is the 51tv aspect where they are going to do live streaming of major events. This could be a huge boon to the short track scene. Cant wait to see what events will be broadcast. I would pay for the whole blizzard series, howie lettow memorial etc.

I've been following speed51 for 4 or 5 years I guess. I noticed today that the new site looks pretty good on my Iphone. I'm sure a lot of you don't "do" Iphone just like you don't "do" facebook, but either way...
As for the new site on computer, it is so-so. I'm more of a dirt guy but checked speed51 for my super late model asphalt fix...love me some of that about as much as dirt. The "trackside now" has been my entertainment for many a night over the last few years. Now they have way too much news, even dirt news! Seriously, i'll check 5 or 6 other sites for dirt track news before speed51. Make that 100 sites.
They need to keep the site focused on short track asphalt. Their new motto "100% short track" - today I check the site and the top story is about Arca practice at Michigan, which I'm pretty sure is 1.5 mile track. Go figure...
