I heard the term "Grassroots Racing" several times last night over the PA at Volusia. They really had the grassroots spirit going on: local cars in affordable classes, in a fun and friendly night at at the races.

Hobby stocks for example, had a full field and an excellent main event. Thunderstocks were very good too. The late models had some competition from Ocala and Georgia, so that class was a little light, but overall we had an interesting night.

The good news about Volusia is that they had a bunch of local track sponsors. The bad news is also that they had a bunch of local track sponsors. Wow, we sure heard a great deal about them! I know you have to give a supporter the exposure what they are paying for, but I suggest that they strike a little different balance between hearing about racing, and hearing a long list of sponsor names....again.

There were two announcers on the job last night. They split the duties, and were both capable at their job. In my opinion, they both sounded too much alike. A little contrast between the styles would be good; try someone for comedy relief, or maybe add a female voice.

We went and watched the sprints at east bay last night.. Awesome show.

Sorry to hear you had issues with the announcer at volusia, but they can be nearly as bad as that Howie guy the TBARA employs!!!

The only problem i have with VSP is their need to run Lates and Mods every week. They seem to operate in a bubble. I just read something on the BRP website from this past weekend that he took emods off his program so they could run at NFS. Also it states that he is working closely with NFS for a 6 race mini series for them between the 2 tracks. VSP in my opinion would be better off if they got on the horn to BRP and NFS and work out something. Sadly i don't think they will as management seems to think they know it all (yes i know bubba has that mindset sometimes as well). I only say that because as a fan i asked a question on their page only to get a snide reply.
