  • S.U.D.S.-"It's What Happens After The Checkered Flag"

This past weekend the "top was popped" on the Inaugural Season of the SUDS Series. Race one was at Orlando Speedworld on Friday and was won by Mike Smith. Race two was at New Smyrna on Saturday and was won by Earl (Junior) Beckner. Both races were "clean" examples as to what racing should be and are generally typical for Sportsman. Only myself and Beckner made both events. Points (before bonus pts. are as follows).

    1. Earl Beckner 45
    2. Scott Garrity 41
    3. Mike Smith 25
    4. Derrick Wood 24
    Brandon Morris
    6. Donny Williams 23
    Daniel Conlin, Jr.
    8. Sandy Lee 22
    9. Andy Nichols 21
    D.J. Farr

Bonus Points were awarded as follows:
25 Points to Patrick Thomas for lending me a carb, finding me a throwout bearing, spotting for me and bringing me a tire plug kit.

5 points to Earl Beckner for running me clean side-by-side for what seemed like 20 laps in Friday's race. Good racing with you Earl, we never even touched!

5 points to Derrick Wood for a friendly greeting and some great racing.

5 points to Donny Williams for chatting over a beer after the race (and great racing too).

5 points to Diamond Jim Higginbotham for some friendly conversation (but a 5 point deduction for forgetting he seen me!)

15 points to Rex Boneman Hollinger for embracing the true spirit of SUDS.

5 points for me and my team for getting up early after a late night Friday and pulling the tranny to replace the throwout bearing (and driving to Apopka from Daytona to get it).

    Adjusted Points:

    1. Beckner 50
    2. Garrity 46
    3. Wood 29
    4. Williams 28
    5. Patrick Thomas 25
    Smith
    7. Morris 24
    8. Conlin 23
    9. Lee 22
    10. Nichols 21
    Farr

Next race "on tap" for the SUDS Series will be at New Smyrna on June 14th (the day after my birthday). The SUDS will be flowing for sure. After that the SUDS will flow to Bronson for a 50 Lapper on Thursday nite, July 3rd. And remember it's never too late to join SUDS, the Series that always leaves you thirsty for more...

You got it Jim. It will require some of the wife's "tater salad" as a bribe tho. Gotta love "edit".

Nice try, but the NERONE series is going to give out TWICE the number of points as SUDS! Ha!

I'm coming to the race at NSS! I'd love to find a way to rent a night in one of the NH cars...

I heard that the NERONE Series had a tough night at the Gary Balough Memorial at Hialeah. Only 3 cars showed up and all 3 were DQ'd in tear down. Illegal crank bearings.... I'm sure someone could PM you wth info on how to rent an NH car. Xracer54? Mr. W?

Wow I'm 5th in points and didn't even bring a car, now that's budget racing. Maybe I can catch up if I get it going soon.

Sorry Boneman, but that is not the right track for the NH cars, You would need to look at Orlando Speedworld or The Dale. It looks like they found a new home in the South.

That's the beauty of the SUDS Series, Patrick. Points are awarded on AND off the racetrack. You can garner points for racing, sportsmanship and being social. Also, any points deficit can be overcome (if you bring enough beer).

My plan, truck load of spare parts, tub of beer on ice, and the points lead after the race on the 14th.

TUB of beer? I'd say the point lead could be within your grasp, my friend.

I'm throwing the "Bullshit Flag" going into turn 1 of the SUDS Series.....

If one of the rules is 'bringing enough beer' and I'm not even in the Top-5 in points......

                        Something fishy with these 'rules'....!!!!

Ya gotta show up to earn points, Jerry. Now, we all know your qualjfications, but ya gotta take the green. I thought for sure that you'd be at the sprint show at NSS. True, your down a lap, but I'm sure a full cooler could earn you a "lucky dog"...

I think some of the guys at Stafford take part in S.U.D.S. prior to getting to the track weekly at Stafford...
