At this point, only the top 2 or 3 from each division have a shot. If teams were notified prior that points were going to be kept, more guys may have shown up weekly. I agree with those posting on FB and call for a reset. Sorry to the guys up front, but it's not fair to the guys out back either. It may also help boost car counts too. Who knows.

If you are going to have a crowd you have to have the cars first.
And that costs money. Ask Yoho.
I assume the points are an attempt to grow car count.
I know the entrance cost into the pits, because I ponied it up for a few years.
Does anyone think that the car count would go up--without significant purse increases--if the pit entrance cost went waaaaaay down?
--probably this would gain a field of lower class cars almost immediately.
I know that is another catch 22, as I am guessing right now the majority of the gate $$ is the pit gate at OSW.
Has this been tried before?

To some people, points are everything. Others may have focused their efforts at other tracks running for points and just come to OSW when they can. Maybe if it had been mentioned originally that points were going to be kept, more would have made OSW their home.
As far as purse... Pay 20 positions. There are tracks here in New England that pay MUCH less to win than OSW ($100 to win in some cases), and they have 25 car fields. Pay the majority of the field and more will show I bet because they know they will at least cover their entry for the night. Which brings me to the entry cost of the pits. $30 is very reasonable. Remember, your insurance risk in the pit area is much higher than in the stands. You are likely paying a percentage of the insurance fee to cover yourself while you are there. Just my .02
