Made my first trip since Speedweeks to the well lit half miler and saw a very good night of racing. TBARA winged sprints arrived with 21 cars, their best field of the year, and had their usual great show. Sport Allen #88 gave his all as he closed the gap on leader #67 Scotty Adema and may have taken down the win if a late caution for a hard crash into the 2nd turn wall by veteran #18 Shane Butler with only two laps remaining. The single file restart went to the advantage of Adema who went on for the win. Dude Teate finished 3rd. Looking forward to Announcer Dave's report on the night. Ryan Partin in the #66 had a hard crash into the 3rd turn wall during his heat race but was AOK . Young Brian Gingras in the #1 won the 3rd heat race after a great battle with 55 Nichols and the rest. Super night for the Sprints. E-Mods had one heck of a race as well with #15 Cody Blair taking the checkers. Sportsman showed with seven cars with Earl Beckner winning. Karnac poster Scott Garrity had his super looking red #07 on hand and piloted to a 4th place finish. Nice job Scott. Super Stock race was a freight train with #20 Justin Reynolds taking the win in the caution free race. 3 strictly stocks put on a fantastic race as #10 Jonathon Murphy bested #81 Barron after a true battle of good, clean, hard driving, old fashioned racing. Great show for the fans. Joe Candolino was 3rd. Stay tuned for Announcer Dave's write up. Should be some good reading. Thanks for a great night NSS....

Just as planned, we got to celebrate the SUDS series with Scotty in the pits after the races. My team had a good time meeting all the good natured, fun loving (and hard racing) 07 crew. Lets do it again next time!

I am sure it didn't make much of a difference, but we were not there.. Didn't bring our group of friends.. And even talked a few ppl out of going. That was a monetary loss of... 140.00 in admission and uncounted loss in concessions, and does not include those that I talked out of going.. As I lost count.
TBARA is a joke. If there was another pavement series around .. They would have 5 members.
I am glad to see that even without joey there, butler and fritz cannot win a race!

Even without Joey, they had their best field of the season.
I saw your rant against the TBARA, and sorry to say, I can't support your opinions that YOU posted on there. A driver is getting fuel soaked, yet continues to race, and you have a problem with an official that was trying to save his life. One spark could have ended his life..... and you have a problem with someone that tried to prevent that from happening.
Nomex underwear is a rule for a REASON. They aren't there to soak up spraying fuel so that that driver can continue to race. It looks like he was caught once not using it at all, and another time his suit was getting soaked, but used HORRIBLE judgement to continue on.
If you're as big a fan of Joey's as you claim to be, you should be thanking that man for potentially saving his life...... not chewing his ass out over a situation that YOU don't understand.

I understand, however that conversation you read was just a small peice. It was also referencing two different incidences. I am pretty sure no one I tentionally set themselves on fire, or put anyone else in danger.
This was Joshua's way of deflecting the issue at hand. Joey did nothing wrong at Orlando. He spent two hours telling me, the fan, what a peice of shit he thinks joey was..
For what? To turn me against him?
Any of you other drivers??? I would stand up you too.. So miss me or not. Cya at the races.

Thanks for the kind words, Denman. My crew busted their butts this weekend. I would be remiss to not give them a shoutout of thanks for all their hard work. Also, I owe a ton of gratitude to Patrick Thomas for saving my weekend by loaning me his carburetor when mine was NG and by finding me a throwout bearing after mine failed during the feature at OSW. He even brought me a plug kit to fix the flat we got on the ol' dually. For a guy who I consider the best Sportsman shoe in FL, he sure is real humble and a great friend. Thanks a ton Patrick. In the end even though we faced a ton of adversity this weekend (including blowing a trailer tire on the way home today) we perservered, had a good run last night with some great competition and in the process made a new friend in Sportsman ace Donny Williams. I got to finally meet the great Boneman and share some SUDS (sorry I didn't get to hang out longer with you Rex). This was my first real race at NSS and it was AWESOME. Also got to meet Kim Brown and Robert Hart and had a nice conversation. Wanted a better result but had a fun time at OSW and was treated real well by the folks there. They even embraced the spirit of the SUDS series by giving the Winner this plaque! Everyone at NSS was real nice too and got to have a nice chat with Annoucer Dave. Everyone I came in contact with this weekend were great. Drivers, fans, officials, crew and friends. Thank you all! Whew am I tired, going to relax with some SUDS now (but can't wait to do it again)!

It was no problem at all Scott. That's what the racing family is supposed to do for fellow racers. Glad you got to run both tracks, you guys busted your butts getting all the little issues fixed so you could make that last race of the weekend, you know the one at Little 500. Hopefully your crew guys kicked your butt for making them work so hard.

I'm not sure what you are all talking about but if a fuel line was spraying fuel on a driver, he should have been yanked off the track asap. I pulled a fully engulfed sprint car driver from his car at East Bay some years ago. Fuel line had sprayed fuel on the driver and when he let off the throttle apparently the exhaust set the fuel on fire. His suit was soaked and the flames went up his body and under his helmet. He inhaled the flames. It only took 14 seconds for East Bay's safety crew to actually put the fire out but he ended up with some serious 2nd and 3rd degree burns and was hospitalized for quite a while. He had all the safety equipment except for the head sock. I believe Joey Agular had a fire last year that provided some great video footage. Correct me if I'm wrong on the driver. Anyway, if you have a fuel leak and are getting anything sprayed on your suit, get off the track. No win is worth it.Originally posted by katlizy View PostI am pretty sure no one I tentionally set themselves on fire, or put anyone else in danger. My photo site: http://www.rewingphotos.com

Patrick, I agree with you 100%, that's the way it should be. But, you sir, went above and beyond and I appreciate that. It's so hard to race and to have to load up and go home without racing sucks. I'd rather loan you parts, and THEN beat you on the track instead of having you on the trailer. That's why I love our class, they named us right! And F.Y.I. I gave them boys no quarter at the Lil' 500. I don't want them spoiled! Besides, I only managed to beat them all once, lol!
I also have to give a big thanks and much love to Peggy Karbonic and her neighbors Carolyn and Dave for putting me and my rowdy bunch up for the weekend in South Daytona (and allowing us to pull our tranny in her front yard). They are all former Modified racers from the Northeast and they had a blast being, once again, part of the action at New Smyrna (even got to take in a little open wheeled action to boot)!
BTW, Diamond Jim, I talked to you for a while at the payout window. Don't you remember???Last edited by scottgarrity07; 05-12-2014, 10:38 AM.

He Scott... Jim's and old guy and he forgets things easily (just like me)...
Thanks for running both nights... You are a super guy with a great crew and hope we get to see you race with us more this year...
Always neat to see my old TBARA friends... I had not seen Taylor Andrews since my days working at Sunshine... was so good to talk with him again and he seems to have found the right driver in Sport Allen...
Wendy Mathis did an awesome job with her family-owened car and looks to be getting things together quickly... hope she runs a lot more this year.
Boney did a good job too... stayed awake the entire feature and got a top-ten despite late adjustments made by Ron McCreary... Little Steven looked right at home in his cast!!
I hate it when guys don't even make it past hot laps... You gotta feel for Matt Alfonso and Mickey Kempgens who came a long way for naught...
Thank goodness Ryan Partin was OK after that big heat race crash... That was winner Adema's other car, so he had both a big high and a costly low as a car owner... Nothing Partin could do as the brakes went out... no fun having that happen at NSS...
Had a few folks complaining about the TBARA announcer, but he is employed by them so you gotta live with it... He's really a nice guy and loves Sprint Cars... Hopefully he can get all the names pronounced right by the end of the season LOL...
