    Benny,

I also agree, and furthermore, will venture to say that some of the 4 cylinder street stock races are better--a lot better--than some of the "premier" division races at other tracks.

That said, first things first from a fan's perspective, and therefore from a promoter's perspective (well, theoretically, anyway...).

I wonder how many fans the sport loses because a first time race experience is as the one discussed in this thread. I am not targeting Showtime as I have encountered the same scenario at other tracks. If every promoter ran his show to impress first time fans I can't help but wonder how big our sport could really be.

If you lose a fan their first time out, you'll never get them back.

There are only a few tracks that I will take a 'virgin' to. Taking someone to a lousy show will lose them before you can hook them.

As much as I LOVE racing, I was totally discouraged with my first racetrack in Fla.... Auburndale. It was, to this day, one of THE biggest clusterf***s I've ever encountered. My first impression with Florida racing was TERRIBLE..... by FAR the worst I'd seen to that point. The regular weekly shows at New Smyrna weren't much better. Thankfully, I also started going to weekly shows at East Bay, Golden Gate and Sunshine that showed me how good it COULD be.

First impressions mean everything to potential race fans. Treat every race like its someone's first visit....!

Hmmmmm, I always did the dinner-and-movie routine .

Would suggest that promoters get sooooooooo tied up with the trees that they can't see the forest.

          That is:

The pit gate guy is sick.
The ladies room is stopped up.
Scofield AND Dorer show up (!).
The hot dogs and french fries are green.
          It's 6:30 and it's raining.

          And so on.

Hopefully this thread will help re-focus on the "big picture".

          Hey, it could happen!
