FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT FEATURES TWIN 50-LAP FEATURES AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY
New Smyrna Speedway will host the first "Fan Appreciation Night" of the 2014
season and will give the fans plenty to see as the Modifieds and Super Stocks
will run a pair of 50-lap feature events. All adults will be admitted to the
grandstand side this week for just $10.
The full-bore "Open" Modifieds will make their first appearance of the regular
season having last raced during the World Series in February. Defending track
champion Jerry "The Hammer" Symons will lead the field once again this week
but he can expect plenty of competition. The Super Stocks have raced three
times already this year and those events have produced a trio of victors
including Mike Trocki, defending track champ Shannon Kelly and Garrett Hill
just last week.
The Mini Stocks and Strictly Stocks will also race this week. Just like the
Super Stocks, the Mini Stock Division has produced three different winners in
the three races run so far this year. Defending track title holder David
Russell won on opening night while Pat Wells has also picked up a win along
with "Mr. Mini Stock," Ted Vulpius, who dominated the class last week. During
intermission this week, Spectator Races are scheduled along with a special
kids/parents tire race.
Pit gates open Saturday afternoon at 3 pm followed by division practice from
4-5:40 pm. Grandstand gates open at 6 pm with qualifying at 6:30 pm for the
Modifieds and Super Stocks. Racing begins promptly at 7:30 pm. Again, adult
admission this week is just $10 and all kids aged 11 and under are admitted
free of charge.
