  • Henny Penny the sky is falling

Not sure what is going on but for Nerone to be the only poster and me the only respondent has to mean that motor sports in Florida is in a terrible downward spiral. A little rain should not be enough to kill all interest. That being said I will watch the conclusion of Murder She Wrote.

It is bad here . Most of the real racers and race fans left this site and the tracks.
Not to many of the real guys left.
look in the stands and wonder what happened to everyone.
    Im sure it my falt
When I left I took all my friends
the rest are on here racing there keyboards.
It sure was fun for many years at the tracks and hope it returns someday.
    Rember drive ins??

LOL Why not put a big screen between the turns and have the track be a drive in 6 nights a week and they can run commercials promoting the races for Sat night??

This sounds an awful lot like watching the submarine races with our girl friends in the 50s and 60s. Come Saturday night we cancelled the submarines and went to the speedway enjoyed real racing.

At Birmingham back in the day there was a drive in screen you could watch behind 3-4 corner. You could see it good but the track lighting was so poor you could not hardly see the cars and the stands were full every Friday night.
          The money comes and goes.
The trophy we get to keep.

Think that is a great idea there.
I think I have tried every thing one time or the other but neve though of that one.
I think if it could be done some one should try it.
Put the sound on the fm radio. sel cheep tickets.
If you go tho the move you get a free ticket to the races and if you go to the races get in the moves free.
Yep the first new idea I have heard in years (attaboy)

That's actually pretty slick thinking Don. I could see that idea working.

Mark the date down folks..... I'm giving Nerone an "atta-boy".

Tracks need off-day revenue. This idea could WORK.

Sorry about the missed credit for the idea that went to Ozzy42. Didn't mean to give all the credit to Don, but his expanded ideas were what caught my attention first.
I'm not sure what political roadblocks could be thrown in to prevent this idea, but I highly doubt if anyone has ever asked the question of "why not?"

Sorry to be "that" guy, but.....
Time and technology have by-passed that idea. With a few mouse clicks, I can stream any movie to my computer or TV. Why would I want to be out in the heat swatting mosquitos when I could watch the same movie in a clean theater, or at home.

Want to try something a little more 21'st century? How about iRacing or video game tournaments on big projection screens? THAT would draw in some kids who may even use the free ticket to the races. I threw a party once where I rented a 20' screen, and watched all the kids line up to play on it. I have to admit, "Mario Kart" has never been the same.

If you run short of large, vacant surfaces to project on, try Don's enormous bald head, or perhaps the posterior of Mr. Osmo Jones. Childish, I know. Just trying to liven things up a bit...

Bonemans input touches on what I am beginning to sense as as one of the big problems in NASCAR today. The baby boomers like the greatest generation are disappearing at an increasingly rapid rate compared to the generations X and Y. Todays people with money to spend are more deeply rooted in an electronic age of entertainment with rapid response to their desires for entertainment. These activities tend to be indoor in nature. So what am I leading up to? I am stating that people willing to sit in the outdoors for 4 plus hours to await the outcome of a freight train race are rapidly dwindling as is the TV audience as well. Once again I will say to NASCAR lets try qualifying, 4 heats a consy and a 100 lap feature like you did at Eldora it just might work.

I agree, I would love to see heats and etc while watching a boring NASCAR race. However, I think the biggest thing to stop that is big time sponsors on the cars. They are sold that the time that their name is seen during the race is cheater then putting ads on tv. NASCAR would have to bring the cost of racing way down to cut the cost of sponsorship.

                              The teenage kids

Would probably all want to play grand theft auto on the video games boneman. If its not loud and obnoxious and a pain in the butt to adults they have no interest.
