  • Would you change your priority ?

I want to throw this question out particularly to any of you who like me have no racetracks operating in the county in which you live.I am primarily a blacktop guy but I do take in an occasional dirt track race. The cost of fuel being what it is and adding the fact I have to travel pretty close to 100 miles one way to see any race, and adding in the fact that I have felt let down many times over what I paid to see,my question is this ;Would you rather go to the track closest to you even though it is dirt but you like blacktop or vice versa or knowing they arent running a division you particularly want to see (for me I follow the late models around)or hit the road and follow the class you prefer?I made my first trip to Clewiston last week and even though Im a asphalt guy with no late models on the schedule anywhere I just decided to stay as close as I could to home.It wasnt an impressive place but than again a lot of races Ive went to at blacktop tracks werent either. So I would just like to hear some opinions.

Easy question. I travel most weekends to see pavement sprints. Because I have the option of going out twice a week, I can also support the local track (Speedworld) that runs on Friday's too.

I have a lot of options in the 100-120 mile range from home, both dirt & asphalt. I usually pick the best option for that week, and not let the miles or fuel costs decide it for me.

Going somewhere just because its closest isn't an option. I live maybe 20 miles from OSW, but I haven't gone yet because of the car counts (which I see IS improving).

I've been to 8 tracks so far this year.... None were at the closest track from home.

Good question. I must admit I have really cut back on racing because of the cost of gas. I'm a dirt guy and I do live about 15 miles from Citrus. Before photographing, I did go there occasionally. I usually went for a special show. I actually liked the truck series when it was going strong.

We will drive anywhere if there is a race we want to see, however, there are weekends when we want to stay close to home (one hour drive). Think of it this way, the gas you put in your car to get there, you would spend on a movie, with popcorn, or a dinner in a restaurant.. I like racing more.

I'll gladly pay extra to see what I like better. I'm less than 5 minutes from Showtime but very very rarely ever go there, because I much prefer dirt. Although East Bay is only 30 minutes, so it's not a bad trip. So for me if it came down to it, I'd rather attend fewer races that I really like than hit the closest track just because its close.

Going to a track one or two times,I think is very hard get a good read on what is happening, ecept if its just run very bad. But What I'm really talking about is local class what ever they maybe, only if a track has a super good PA guy filling the fan in,is posible to really enjoy whats going on.
Dirt or blacktop, good compation is a good race.
              I loved racing both.

                Change my priority?

Not often, when I'm not racing my Unlimited All-Star karts I try to go to a place with a good show, particularly like all sprints, like TBARA when they are at NSB, I also travel 3 hrs. over to Citrus County for their good shows.
