  • And the award for " Caught in a big lie " goes to Mike Joy

I was watching the Auto Club Raceway event Sunday when the laugh out loud moment of the year so far occurred. Mike Joy went into his usual nonsense about the size of the crowd when at the exact same time a helicopter shot of the stands showed thousands of empty seats. The shot continued as Joy described the event as " completely sold out " . Apparently hoping that no one noticed that moment, he went on to repeat the sold out crowd thing later in the broadcast.
Not a bad race overall, and the GWC was a barnburner.

I noticed that too, he was mentioning that the only tickets left were "standing room only" but the bleachers were 1/4 empty lol

I worry more about dufus Mike Waltrip talking to Donna Summer...

We all know Mike Joy will NEVER diss NASCAR or the racing...

They said that also during Saturdays Nationwide race, that the Sunday race was a sellout.

        Doesn't mean everyone showed up.....

Otherwise, why would they announce a sellout, if they had a boatload of tickets to still sell...???

Bulk sales. Has been use forever. They sell tickets by the thousands for cheap at different corporation that uses them for: employees, draw, promotion etc.

So if you are a golfer and your boss gives you 2 tickets for the Cup race, doesn't mean you will go, but the ticket are still sold.

It was funny because the way Mike Joy worded it was that the race was sold out and you could only buy tickets for the standing room.

When 1/4 the bleachers are empty by the start finish line, it's ridiculous to imply you can't get bleacher seats. Even if the track was sold out, when 1/4 the bleachers are empty there must be tickets available for cheap through corporations, websites, resellers, etc.

After the rain delay at Bristol and the race back under green Mike Joy stated that all the fans would be filing in soon now that they can hear the cars back on the track...Yeah,OK

The track can't re-sell seats that are already sold.

How would you like to show up, only to find someone else in your seat? Myself, I'd just find another spot..... some people have to have THEIR seat.

                Sold-out, and filled-up, are 2 different things.

No one at any point said anything about the track selling duplicate tickets lol

Once the seats are sold, the only thing they CAN sell is "Standing room only". If that's what you buy, that's all you get. They're not gonna let you grab a seat, even if nobody else is using it.

What's Mike Joy gonna say? 'If you want to sit down tomorrow, come on out, and find a scalper'. Everyone knows that you can buy a ticket to ANY event if you shell out enough money.

And how are you gonna go on-line and buy a ticket between the end of the Nationwide & beginning of Cup race?

Again, "Sold Out", and "Filled Up" aren't the same.

Beside the tickets thing, one thing sure.... great finish. One more lap and ding dong would have finish second AGAIN to Larson. He would have throw a fit, a magistral one.
