    Bad night at Bubba's

Funny how the first I've seen in any newspaper is in today's Daytona News Journel, and IO saw, yesterday in a go-kart racing site another news item. Today's paper said that it was her first time on the track, and she was alone there when she hit the 3rd. turn wall, she was unconscious when lifted from her car, taken to local Ocala hospital , then air-lifted to Shands in Gainsville, where she succumbed. I still can't figure why no other particulars , like, how and why, so that it might be prevented in the future. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Family and friends.

Not knowing any facts or particular events that came into play

I will say this. The basic constuction of a race car is great. But the basic construction of most of these compact class cars is not. These cars were never intended to be raced and the manufacturing style of these cars is for a (fairly)safe highway vehicle.Promoters like running these class cars because they are cheap, easily identifiable to the younger fans in particular and race fans in general, and as a rule low buck which translates to low payout in the purse for the night.THESE CARS DONT HAVE AN ACTUAL FRAME AND SHOULDNT BE RACED.They are a tin can with a minimal roll cage and many dont have even a front or rear loop to the cage. Many street stock, strictly stock, and v8 bomber style cars are built using uniframe cars and they arent safe either. As in the instance of a young boy who was killed at Auburndale a couple seasons back, once again it was in a compact division car. These cars are not sturdy enough or strong enough from the factory for the driver to survive a catostrophic impact.Unfortunately most teens (and I believe their family members who let them compete in these style cars),are unaware of the danger they are in by racing these type of cars.Hell it has gotten to the point these things have become more dangerous than a winged sprint,so that alone should speak up and tell you something. The promoters need to do away with these tin can classes.THESE ARE NOT WERE THEY EVER INTENDED TO BE AN ACTUAL RACE CAR!!!

Before coming down to hard on today's cars with the unibodies, watch the following crash test. It's a 59 Chevy Bel Air and a 2009 Chevy Malibu. They collide and the driver of the 59 would have died instantly while the driver of the 09 would have had a slight knee injury. Really surprised me. Well worth watching.

@zerofor you couldn't be much farther from the truth.
lets all take a long ride on a short bus.

I quit fishing because no one was standing at the docks handing out money when i got back, why did you quit racing?
