Looks like we have one real OWM racer in the State of Florida. Josh Todd is the only Mod racer to run both Friday night at OSW, and Saturday night at Desoto. Damn only one guy that really wants to race.
Back in the day Mike Morgan and I would race at Barberville Raceway on Friday night and DeLand Raceway on Saturday night, then with less turn-around time race Sunday afternoon at Putnan County Raceway. All that with a '55 Ford six cylinder car and a trailer that one of our friends asked if we made it out of bed rails and bicycle tires. We would see 10 to 15 other guys doing the same thing!

it's not the same

We ran many tracks on the same weekend back in the day,but it's not the same today.....It takes a larger checkbook now. If you don't have a lot of help,it's hard to run once a week. Some of us have things called "BILLS", others have kids that are back home again. No racer wants to sit home,they just don't have the money today, 4 pit passes,10 gals. racing fuel,2 tires,$150. fuel for the truck plus food. That my friend is over $500 per nite to run.If you want to see more guyes run more nites, please take some of your free time and find them some money. Don't bad mouth a man that payes his bills first and races for a hobby. No one is going to pay for a house racing in Flordia, or as far as that goes,no one is going to put food on the table racing here!

2 night racing

It's not the same world anymore Fred. You know that. It costs me an average of $350-$375 a night today to get a car to the track and run it. That's if it comes off the track in 1 piece with nothing broke, tore up or blown up on a regular 25-30 lap race night. Car(modified) ran 3rd Friday and got $200 (started 12th). Do that 2 weeks in a row and you have lost an average of $350 in 2 weeks. Friday night was even a little more costly because car needed all 4 tires (probably going to need 2 next time out plus a new fuel cell). Now if car would have won both weeks yes then ahead money wise. But that don't happen much anymore. Car is supported by me, myself and I. By no means am I complaining/bitching/whining as some people imply (JW), but I know what I am in for. That's why I beg and grovel and don't run a lot anymore. And it does suck not having ANY sponsors ($$$$anyone want to step up and help$$$$). Speed World is doing me and possibly others only running my class (modifieds) every other week and not running Supers (Yea I'm stupid and got 1 of them too!). I go to the track to be competitive and be in contention to win! Not someone that is happy (a rolling road block) just riding around and getting lapped in a 8-10 lap heat race.

Well my boy Travis Roland raced Showtime and then drove straight to Bronson speedway and slept in truck because motels were sold out a few weeks ago!

Fred, What don't I get ?????? I know you were not bad mouthing Josh or anyone else. I'm glad he can do that. I would love to be able to run 2 nights a week. He has the backing, sponsors, friends and most important Family participation! Look how long Sandy and I did it ourselves. I was just saying it's not the same as the old days. Remember we used to take my old Thunder Car and race Orlando on Friday(asphalt) and convert it over to run Volusia (Dirt) on Saturday nite (Tires, Gear, Exhaust, Windshield and WIN). That was FUN! Now it's different cars/set-ups for different tracks.

If I remember right Travis Roland, Devin McLeod, and myself ran Showtime Saturday night and hauled to Bronson the next day a couple weeks ago. Robbie Cooper and myself ran Citrus last Saturday and Bronson Sunday. During Speedweeks Robbie ran Bronson on Sunday, New Smyrna on Wednesday, and Desoto on Saturday all in the same week. Sounds like to me everyone I mentioned are true racers. Josh is a good friend of mine and its cool to see him back in his modified after getting a motor together. Not all of us can get off work on Fridays to get over there and race. Until then, see you at the tracks we can make it to.

oneoff If you would like to make up the difference in my pay i would have missed out on by taking friday off and footing the bill for racing 2 nights I would gladly do it.

Say what you want, but Moff is the only OWM driver Id pay to watch. The rest just ride around in circles.
