    Medals of Honor

PO2 (EOD2) Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor Posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq , giving his life to save his fellow Seals.

During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, "SEAL'S" were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it. This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.

This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see everyday.

Since the media wont make this news, I choose to make it news by forwarding it on to all of you. I am proud of our military. Rest assured that these fine men and women of our military will continue to serve and protect.

Great story Dave, Thank you for sharing that.
You are so right about the media and the crap that they post. Yesterday was an article on Yahoo news said that O'bama was more popular with people who owned pets. I thought to myself "who in the hell comes up with this stuff"? Then today I read your story, "The Medel of Honor" very sad, but at least its real news about a real AMERICAN, however you wont see this story on the 6 o'clock news.

We are a nation of great extremes. Some are heroes who gave it all, like this young man. Then there are the others in our country....

Thank you very much for posting this, Dave. I'm former Navy myself, and my oldest daughter just finished her school in Pensacola and is on her way to her boat in Norfolk, VA. My dad is former Army (Viet Nam vet - 1968-69). I like the way this story relates the medals being embedded into the coffin - that's VERY cool.

          Thanks again. 'Preciate it.
