  • July 19 at CCMP - $1,000 Payout - Desoto Champ Kart Series

The "Thundering Herd" of the Desoto Champ Kart Series will make it's fifth appearance of 2008 at Charlotte County Motorsports Park in Punta Gorda, on Saturday night, July 19.

The feature is being sponsored by C&D Motorsports at www.HurricaneKartingInc.com , of Palm Bay, Florida. Owners Darrell and Mindy Legg will be visiting CCMP for the first time on July 19. Darrell and Mindy own both C&D Motorsports , and Hurricane Speedway (formerly known as Sharpes Raceway), and are long-time supporters of Florida karting.

The two 6-lap heat races will also be sponsored by Creative World School at http://www.creativeworldschool.com! The heat races will each pay $25 to win, $15 for second and $10 for third!

This race will also pit the best champ kart drivers from the East Coast, against the West Coast. The top five finishers for the winning "team" will win a small race momento following the feature.

The series would like to welcome any interested or curious folks to come into the pit area, to meet our drivers and crews. This series has some of the friendliest racers and crew anywhere.

Competition: In the last fifteen series events, an amazing TWELVE different winners have triumphed!

Stars: Think this is just a "go kart" series....?? Already this season, 2007 TBARA Sprint Car Series champion Troy Decaire has participated once (finishing second), along with FASCAR Truck driver Barry Bartlett (finished seventh). Late Model and Open Wheel Modified Driver Dustin Chisholm has also competed with the series (finishing second), along with dirt late model driver Johnny Allen (finishing fourth).

Purses: With the additional sponsorship for this race, the estimated cash payout is expected to top $1,000! In addition, the series has contingency sponsors for every race. And NO, these purses don't take ONE CENT from the front gate of any track the series races at! The series generates it's own purses entirely from its own sponsorships, class entry fees, and other revenues. The series participation at each track is entirely a PLUS for every other class. The series brings fans into the front gate, purchases many pit passes, buys concessions, etc., all of which puts extra dollars into the other class payouts that night. Our racers are simply grateful to be able to race at the "big tracks"!

Think you have some psychic abilities....? Now is your chance to prove it!

The Desoto Champ Kart Series has created the "Champ Kart Challenge" for 2008. Each race, the Champ Kart Challenge jar will be placed on the series registration table. Any driver or person in the pits is welcomed to fill out one slip, to predict the top five feature finishers, in the correct order.

If any driver or person in the pits correctly picks the top five feature finishers on July 19, in the correct order, he/she will win all the prizes in the jar! In addition to the $15 GiftCard for Regal Cinemas from the last race, a $20 GiftCard to the Olive Garden Restaurant has now been added to the jar!

If these two prizes go unclaimed, another prize will be added at the next event. The prizes will continue to build throughout the year, if noone correctly predicts the order of the top five feature finishers!!!

And, participation is entirely FREE!!! If the Champ Kart Challenge goes unclaimed through the final race of the year, the contents of the jar will be donated to the series, to be given to the participants (either as door prizes for next year, or to be included with the 2008 year-end awards funds)!!!

All drivers and crew, from all divisions, are welcomed to participate. Take a moment on Saturday night, to come into the Desoto Champ Kart Series pit area, to fill out a slip. You've got nothing to lose, and you just might win a few prizes!

Also, please take a moment to check out the new look of our series website at: http://www.desotochampkartseries.com

Thanks to all of our 2008 Series Sponsors!
