This is a pretty nice payout.... but it's a long way from home to come visit.

UNLESS you do what has been very popular with fans..... LET US KNOW WHO'S COMING. I've been persuaded into attending races that I hadn't planned on based on the racers expected to be there.

It doesn't take much effort, it builds excitement, and sells tickets. It's worth 10 minutes a day to keep us informed.

Once again, Frasson nails it! I too get swayed when I know who is coming.

Post a payout and the fans who will helping to pay the bills have no idea who's coming.... Do you go to the movies having never seen the trailer? Why is this such a hard concept to grasp? It seems the PASS series understands it... Not that I really respect them after ditching New Smyrna.

With a payout like that I think there will be plenty of cars. And i'm not even worried about who those cars are. I'll be there to help this track get back to the outstanding track it used to be. People buying tickets and being patient while the track grows are what's going to save the place. I don't have very far to go to get there, but i'd make the effort even if I did because I remember how cool this track was back in the day.

I haven't been to Desoto in several years, since John had his No Re-entry policy, but I'd love a good reason to come back. I'm not up for a 2-1/2 hour ride to see a lousy field, or a group that I could see somewhere much closer.

This would have been a good race to have the Brighthouse sanction on. It would bring a handful of the East Coast guys that don't normally run there, and that's what I'm looking for.... a field comprised of a mixture of the expected regulars, and guys that rarely ever run there.

If I see that mix, I will surely consider the trip.

                    What did you guys do

back in the days before karnac and the internet?

In the 70's and early 80's the only way you would know what teams were coming to the race was when they showed up at the track.

For a $5000.00 1st place payout you will have probably between 20 and 25 cars if not more.

My point to this is: if people want to see Desoto survive, do like people in the old days used to do, Saturday night just show up, buy a ticket and enjoy the show that they put on.

You are so right.... but back in the day (before Karnac and the internet) you wouldn't have been able to put your two cents in....think about that....

However, since we "Have" moved ahead since the 70's and 80's why not use what's available to us.... and we can choose where we want to spend our money depending on what's what at different tracks...doesn't that make sense to you..................OSF

Back before Karnac & the Internet, there was a thing called 'racing papers', that come come to mailbox every week, and you could find out what was coming up, who followed that series, etc.....

The info was always out there, if you took the time to subscribe to the papers & read them.

I knew about races at several Florida tracks 10 years before I actually got here...

                          ???

It does not make a difference to me either way, I will be there on the pit side. I was just saying for Desoto to offer up a $5000.00 payday for a 75 lap race is excellent and that reason alone is enough to support the track so that there will be a excellent fan turnout and the high purses will continue down there.

As far as driver turnout, when a high purse is offered the cars will come.

Showtime offered 5K to win the Sprints tonight.... 8 cars showed up.

Just because its bigger money than usual, doesn't convince me that a large field will show up.

Tonight PROVED that theory doesn't work.

Frisson, the sprint guys worked out a deal, so they could race once a month at citrus, with Gary. Most of them felt it would not be morally correct to bail of him, for any amount of money. I don't understand why you can not see that.

As far as the Desoto race, the racers, most of them, have been screwed by fups or Rex, so, I would think most of the cars would go to Desoto, if they were only paying 2 grand to win.

My main point being, the 5 grand May be the same, but these are two very different stories, you are not comparing apples to apples.....Vince
