Last year we had the first annual SUNSHINE SPEEDWAY RE-UNION!!! over 1200 people showed up. We promoted it for months. This year hardly a word was said and NO ONE has written any posts about how it went... Please show us some pics and tell us about it. I couldnt go this year...actually i forgot because hardly anything was said... This is a huge event and there should be a LONG LONG thread about the events, who were there, ETC ETC !!!!! Thank you !

Hi Carol,

It was not as big an event attendance wise as last years reunion. You must remember that this year it was held on a Sunday. Many people attend church on Sunday and spend the rest of the day relaxing with their family at home or going to the beach. The hours were 10 AM - 4 PM which is the hottest part of the day. I got over there after church at about 1:30 PM and it was very slow as far as attendance. The greeter at the door of Quaker Steak and Lube told me it was a little busier earlier on, but nowhere near as many people were there as last year.

Last year it was held on Tuesday evening in conjunction with a live internet radio broadcast by Karnac.com. Tuesday is also all you can eat chicken wings night. That combination led to far more race drivers, fans, and cars being in attendance.

I would suggest returning to the Tuesday format for a successful Sunshine Speedway reunion along with a live Karnac internet radio broadcast.

It may not have been as big as last year but Desoto would have killed for that good of a car count!!!
