  • Good time at Speedfest

60+ SLM and PLM at Cordele yesterday. Johnny Sauter and Chase Elliot were bad fast and put on a great show. I didn't like how it ended so I will withhold my congratulations to Elliot (check out Speed51 for replay) but whatever, still a great show. The SLM's as a whole really get wound up around that place. Took my 3 sons and parked in the infield at the third corner and watched those guys standing on it down the big arch of the backstretch- it was awesome.

The PLM race was good for the first 100 laps and then got ugly for the last 25- reminiscent of last year and not surprising at all- LoL
    John Hunter Nemecheck won it.

I wonder why more Florida guys don't come up and run that show- I would think W. Anderson, T. Cope, Webster, D. Keene and some others who run well at NSS would be competitave there. Chochette won it last year but was absent yesterday.

One final note- they need to change that opening to pit road. When I saw that I thought to myself what a bad wreck it could cause and sure enough it did. It happened basically right in front of us and I'll bet the front of that car was 12 feet in the air.
I heard he (Clay Rodgers) broke his wrist- and I'm sure he is sore today- but I'm glad that's all because it was about as hard a wreck as I have ever seen.

All and all a great day at the track and a great way to start the season. It was well worth the extra cost to get into the infield (the whole thing is paved) and I know my kids liked it way more than just sitting in the stands.

Looked like a good time. I really like that track, they can race anywhere on it. In October of 12 I made the trip up and watched a CRA race. Webster, Campi, and Nasse were all there.
