  • Might be time for an intervention

Just saw where Gene Haas ( as in Stewart Haas Racing ) is in the process of forming an F1 team. That can easily be a $100 to $300 million a year project.
First he hires Kurt Busch ( without consulting anyone at Stewart Haas ) and bankrolls the team out of his own pocket. Now he's planning on forming his own F1 team. Sounds like maybe he's got an issue or two that he needs help with.

Gene is THE boss.... he doesn't need to consult with anyone, including Tony.

But I didn't think had THAT kind of cash lying around.

Big big outfit that Haas company.

Just check out Haas automation, it's worldwide.

And sometimes they get in there as business moves, not 100% by racing interests.

For the older, remember when in early '90's, Penske switch from Pontiac to Ford...... All behind closed doors deals, including Penske rental fleet, Ford
AND Mercedes, which at the time had built a pushrod V8 engine for Penske Indy car, that finished 1-2-3, that year with that motor that was design and built in a record time.

Although I agree he's biting off big chunks, he's one of the few in this country that can. He already owns probably the best wind tunnel in the world that many other F1 teams use. I'd love to see a properly funded American F1 effort.

According to their web site, they(Haas Automation) had an annual gross income of more that 950 millions US $ in 2012. So I guess they could play that game for a while.

            Team name change?

With the addition of Haas wanting to form a F-1 team and Tony and Kurt's friendship, who knows there might possibility be a name change on the front door of Stewart-Haas Racing? Busch-Haas Racing? Stewart-Haas-Busch Racing? Tony going to the F-1 team? Just speculation.

It's not as easy as you might think. And it's a thankless job.
