As far as I'm concerned the stars don't get much bigger than Richie Evans or this guy. The A&W sponsored cars are pre-SuperAmerica which puts this in the early 70's.
Picture is from the National Speed Sport News website with the caption;
Dick Trickle and his state of the art transporter in the pit area at New Smyrna Speedway.

The late models from 65 through 75 were some of the best looking race cars that ever took the track. You had no doubt as to the make of the car and the difference was certainly not decals. The all metal bodies gave the engines a resonance not heard in todays cars. Even with the Ed Howe beehive sound you still knew it was a badass motor.Originally posted by Elkoldtimer View PostAs far as I'm concerned the stars don't get much bigger than Richie Evans or this guy. Yeah! I used one of those 180* headers set at one point. The motor would turn 6500 RPM and the whole grandstand side could swear on their lives you were turning 10,000. What a whistle sound that had.
When you had the exit on right side door, if you would make a pass on a competitor on the inside, he instantly became deaf for a while.
