  • 7th Annual Modified Reunion coming together

For the 7th consecutive year, we will be hosting the Modified Reunion at New Smyrna Speedway. Come on out on Feb. 21st, from Noon until 5:00 and meet around 100 or more former Modified racers, some of our own Florida heroes, and around 20 Vintage Modifieds and Late Models.

There is NO cost to attend the Reunion.

Then, stick around for a 4 division show featuring the Richie Evans Memorial 100, along with Super Lates, Pro Lates, and a Mini Stock 50.

I've had several cool entries so far, and will be posting pictures and short stories about each as I go.

Stay tuned to this thread... there will be additions pretty much daily for the next 6 weeks or so.....

A brand new Vintage Mod will makes its debut, as Tobi Smith brings out his Mario Fiore owned/Reggie Ruggiero driven 44 tribute car. Can't WAIT to see this one in person.

Vic Kangas was mainly a Crew Chief, but has accomplished quite a bit. He has a win in the Busch GN series with Rick Fuller, a BGN Championship with Joe Nemechek, and a member of the NEAR Hall of Fame in New England for his work on Modifieds back in the day.

Bugs Stevens will be inducted that same week into the Living Legends of Auto Racing that same week, and will be at the Reunion.

Bugsy livens up any crowd he's in the middle of.

As he has every year, Geoff Yoder will pace the field for the Richie Evans 100 in one of Richies Pinto's (sometimes Geoff brings his Richie Cavalier).

The 2 people in this pic are Richies kids, Tara & Richie Jr.

Bob Krollage is planning on the long drive down from Long Island NY. He drove the last Coupe on Long Island in a car that is now in a new home in South Florida with Richard Bowser.

George Pavlisko comes down from SC almost every year with this Eddie Mumford tribute car, the Z-8. George also provides the helmets that all the drivers sign & we raffle off that day.

Legendary car owner Mario Fiore will make his first appearance here. He had many drivers over the years, most of them won races for him, but when he & Reggie Ruggiero teamed up, they kicked ASS.

This Reunion isn't just for Northern Legends, its for anyone that appreciates the days of you & your buddies building a car in the garage, beating doors off each other on the track, and more than a few beers and laughs afterwards.

Former Governors Cup winner, Jim Fenton is one of those guys, and he'll be there too.

Although he's still racing and winning, Joe Winchell is another one of those guys. He will also be coming.

Doug Heveron has raced anything from 1/4 Midgets to Indy cars. He also had quite a few good years here with the TBARA Sprints. But he's strictly an asphalt guy. I once asked him about having any dirt experience. He chuckled, shook his head and explained how much the 2 times he tried it, did NOT work out so well.

Both the racer, and the magazine have since retired...
