Wisconsin's Frank Kreyer is preparing a Super Late for New Smyrna. Last time he was down, the hung a throttle wide open in practice for the Governors Cup, and wiped out/burned down his car.

Glad to see that wreck didn't spook him off from coming back.

After a driver switch in the off season, David Gravel from CT, will be running 'select shows' in '14. Since the car owner is from Florida himself, and the fact the team ran both Ocala & VSP last year (with Jac Haudenschild) I'm assuming they'll be there this year also.

Added a handful of drivers to the New Smyrna Speedway - World Series Pre-Entries page. If the past is any indication, the next two weeks should see more and more rolling in.

(To make it a little easier, I have posted direct links (some still not active yet) on the right hand side of the Site that should take you to World Series information. We are updating info daily as we get closer to Feb.)

In an off-season driver change, Cole Powell will be driving Hillbilly Racing 79, a will be at the Daytona Battle.

In a VERY busy week, he will also be in the ARCA 200, "a few shows at NSS in the Mod, and also bringing his Late Model to "run one of the SLM races at NSS".

3 different cars, at 3 different tracks, in 1 week.

Some guys get ALL the breaks....!

Another driver change will see Tommy Barrett making his first full Modified Tour run. This is the team that Mike Stefanik drove last year and ran both Daytona & NSS. I doubt they will make all the races at NSS, but will be there for the Richie Evans Memorial on the 21st.

Not only has Tommy never run either track before... he's never even been IN the state of Florida...! Don't count him out at NSS. This kid is known as a HARD charger.

Trickle and Richie would do this all week; so would Donnie Allison. Trickle'd run the Winston Cup car and run abck and forth to the short track for the Late Model shows; mid- to late-'80s he was running Joe Brady's #00 Modified along with his Late Model.

Richie ran a few Sportsman races in the early '70s; then, when the Mods ran at Daytona on the road course, he'd be back and forth all week.

Donnie ran a few early- to mid-'70s World Series shows while running the DiGard #88 Chevy at Daytona, along with the Late Model Sportsman for the Permatex race.

Not sure if ol' Pete Hamilton ran both the World Series and Daytona in the same week.

I don't *recall* if Bobby Allison ever made it to New Smyrna for the World Series, but, he'd run just about anything over at the big track - Late Model Sportsman, Modifieds, Grand Nationals, and Busch Grand Nationals, along with the Cup car...

Silly season is in full swing in the Mods. Doug Coby is the new driver of the Mike Smeriglio #2 for the season. They should be at Daytona, no word on NSS.

Another move on The Tour.... Bryon Chew retires to spend more time at the family car dealership. They picked up Woody Pitkat to drive the car for this season. Again, they should be at Daytona, no word on NSS.

Glad to see my buds Coby and Pitkat with solid rides for 2014. Doug should be unstoppable in the always fast 2 mod. Won a championship and followed that with a runner up in the 52 which was pretty much a field filler before he took the wheel. Kinda dissapointed that things didn't pan out for Woody with the Hillbilly gang. Thought they had a good thing going there. Glad he fell into the 88 ride. I know Woody, he'll wheel it for all its worth!

After Roger Hill died, his wife kept funding the team for another year, but decided they couldn't really afford it anymore. And were to shut down completely, but Cole Powell came up with additional funds to keep it going.

It had nothing at all to do with Woody, just finances. I'm not crazy about rich kid ride buyers, but in this case, he didn't buy the seat as much as saved the team from folding up.

Wow Jerry, you have the inside scoop on that deal. Last time I talked to Woody everybody was working together well and old Riverside Park Mod veteran Chris Kopec was on board helping too. Didn't know that Roger had passed on. It's definitely better to keep that team together than to have it disbanded. Woody will do fine in the Chew ride. The Buzz Chew Crew never seemed to be short on quality equipment in the Mod Series or the old Busch North Series (K & N East Series)!

For Woody, I see it as a parallel move. And good for the Hills and Powell.

Pitkat isn't 'settling for less', and Powell kept a team on the Tour. This could be good for everyone in the long run.
