One hell of a final night of the season at EB. Track was in excellent condition, zero dust, and a VERY impressive show.
The LM's took the roofs off, and came out in force.... 30 cars (31 actually), which required 4 heats, and a B-Main.
Kyle Bronson, after getting his primary car in the show through his heat, wound up in the back-up car, starting on the tail of the B. The top 4 from that went to the A. Kyle runs from the back, up to 4th (all he needed), but got over-aggresive and spun out. With only 4 laps left to get back through, he pulls it off to get the final spot in the A in 24th.
This kid put on a CLINIC, coming from the back, to actually taking the lead from Keith Nosbisch with only a few to go. Bronson had turns 1&2 figured out, but Keith smoked him in 3&4. Once Nosbisch saw where Kyke was kicking his ass, he took the same line himself for the last few laps and pulled away for the win.
The whole race was action packed, but Kyle Bronson was the SHOW.
Was also very impressed with the Antique Mods. They weren't there for show AT ALL. These guys raced hard, with a bunch of 2 & 3 wide racing among old coupes & coaches. If I could see 30 of them at one show, you couldn't KEEP me from attending.
Outlaw 4's - Never been much of a 'Mini-Stock' type fan, but these cars seem very competitive with each other, and some real talent behind the steering wheels.
Other than the LM's, none of the fields were outstanding, but totally acceptable for the end of the year. I think (didnt write this down, but) the Antiques had 10, Outlaw 4's were at 12, LM' - 31 (including Bronson's back-up), Street Stocks were 15, the Stock Minis were around 20'ish (didn't count, but they did need 3 heats).
I can't believe I almost let the entire year to by before I made my 'at LEAST once a year trip to EB. In 31 years, I think there was maybe 2 years along the way that I didn't take in an EB show..... and I'm DAMN glad I didn't break my streak tonight.
Surely among my top 5 shows of the year..... can't WAIT to go back.
Can't forget to mention running into some great Karnacians, Ricky Smallwood & Gary Johnson....... and a half-assed decent guy who looks like Santa, but only goes by initials.
Good to see you OSF, and try not to ruin my reputation on here....!
