  • Osw 2014

Ok, it looks like Orlando Speedworld will be open next year. Great news!
What classes will be running? E-Mods... in or out? Pro Lates... In or out?

Please clear up the rumors about what classes are running or not.

We all need to know this NOW so that we can make plans. And PLEASE make a decision and stick to it. Make a rule book and stick to it. Make a tire choice and stick to it. Get a parts trailer out there. Get a damn tire cheetah tank out there.

I for one made it to every E-Mod race at OSW in 2013 and i'd like to come back again next year. If there are no E-Mods then I would consider building an open motor and race with the big boys if I knew that it will be run consistently all year long.
If things are going to be the same then I am better off going to NSS with my E-Mod. I have had enough drama.

Come on Ozzy. Get it done right this time.

I would honestly look to race elsewhere until I saw anything that resembles a real committment to the oval by Ozzy. I still feel like he will just keep it on life support to use as a tax writeoff. Don't be used as a pawn. If you were to build a marginal motor to change your e-mod to an open mod then you would be screwed if the same crap were to continue. My advice is to go run your e-mod as-is at NSS and see how things shake out.

That is my concern and its not the cost of building an open motor. It is the comitment that I make may not equal the commitment that Ozzy makes to run the track with the same level of intensity that I have.

Things are so wishy washy over there, I dont know what I will end up with.
If I run the E-Mod at NSS, at least i know that I can plan my calendar around theirs and not have to worry about dropping classes or even dropping the whole season.

That's whats troubling to me. Did you read that statement he released? I don't know how anyone would have any confidence about OSW being "turned around" anytime soon with what he said. No specifics about the past, present OR FUTURE. I think he is counting on everyones emotional attachment to the track, so that they commit to run there. Then he is at least able to keep the doors open and maintain the bare minimum he needs for it to be a viable write-off. I think he wants it to succeed, but doubt he will make any real effort to make that happen. No matter what, come tax time he has a great write-off. I don't think he understands the commitment, both financially and time-wise that us circle trackers make to race at a particular track. It's a big sacrifice. If he does and would play on peoples emotions just to ensure his own financial gain, then well, that is just plain disgusting. I would warn anyone planning on running the Speedworld in 2014 to believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. You know what you are getting at NSS. And from what I have seen recently, it will probably turn out to be one of the two best places to race (along with Desoto) in the state in 2014.

I don't know much, but I do know that I've been in touch with the new manager in the past few days, and that he is meeting with the owner on 1-8-14 to discuss the oval schedule, sprints cars and more. Yes, they are planning their 2014 season.

I hope the meeting between the new manager ( how many new managers does this make ? ) and the owner goes well over there. But I know I've read about numerous meetings between new managers and the owner and the results always seem to be the same. To wit; the owner has no intention of investing any more than the bare minimum amount of money and isn't open to suggestions, while the new manager, who was hired at almost minimum wage with promises of big money if he can turn things around, can't last long enough to produce any real results.
Lets hope for the best, but past history would suggest otherwise.

THIS JUST IN!!!!................ OSW will wait until the last min. to announce anything. The new GM is top secret, if you ask who it is you will be ignored. the website will be rigorously updated for the 1st 2 races, after that ...... it is up to you to guess when we will have the events. make sure to talk to every possible source daily to remain up to date. we will attempt to promote the few shows that really matter (aka sprints and crash fest) for the rest of the you it is up to you the drivers to pull the crowed in, if you cant we will drop the class. occasionally we may feel the need to shut the track down to change GM's as they sometimes get out of line and want to spend $ advertising for this track. This is unacceptable! I'm sure you can understand. Looking forward to a great year in 2014!
                      thanks for the support.

                          Osw?

There was a time when I had the desire to go there to see, but after all the diddling around last yr. I'd rather make a 2 hr. drive across the state to attend both Bubba's and Citrus County. Now I read that Putnam county is going to try it again? Stoopid, another choice for Sat. nights? Voulsia is closer for me.
