Richard Childress fiercely defended his two grandsons Sunday morning, a day after Childress driver Kevin Harvick called Ty Dillon "a punk-ass kid" after they wrecked at Martinsville Speedway. Harvick's job might be safe but the relationship with Childress, the owner of Richard Childress Racing, soured after he called Childress' grandsons Austin and Ty Dillon spoiled "punks" and "rich kids" following Saturday's race. "What happened on the track was one thing," Childress said, "but the comments afterwards is where I'm really upset. I'll never apologize for giving my grandsons an opportunity, just like the France family, the Earnhardt family, the Wood brothers. You go down the list of the people that have been given opportunities. All of them didn't make it. You've got to go out and earn what you've got, the opportunity in life to succeed. And these boys earned it." Childress, who talked with Harvick on Sunday morning, said he is committed to Harvick and the team sponsors for the final four races of the season. "We're going to give him everything humanly possible to win that championship," Childress said. "I'm committed to him for four more races, just like I committed to him the day that he said he was leaving. I shook his hand and committed I'd give him 100 percent, and I'm going to do it. But I'm not going to be backed into a corner."

shame on Kevin Harvick, he thinks he is better than he really is, He should be saying thank you for getting Dales ride for the last 12 years and move on with some face left.....yeah he got crashed, it was hard racing...racing for points , if he wants to PLAY in another division he needs to understand...
Just like Tony, Kevin crying when he gets it but has no problem dishing it out... -
Actually, it wasn't racing for points... Harvick does not accumulate drivers points in that division and the 3 truck isn't even close to being in contention for Owners points either and the 14 isn't running for owners points at all. The Dillon boys have BOTH been spoon fed their entire life. Harvick is 110% Accurate... They raced grampys dirt cars and then grampy gave them a ride in the Trucks... Really?!? MUST BE NICE!!! Harvick started in Go Karts and climbed the ladder... Sure, his family had money, but they didn't have RCR money. His family built most of their cars and did it the hard way. The way the grassroots racer does! As for that being hard racing? Sure... It was... Until Dillon went for the dive-bomb and tried to lay the blame on Harvick...Originally posted by Pun33 View Post

On the spoon fed thing I have one question.
I just wonder if Kevin is going to spoon feed his son when/if his kid wants to get into racing/career since his kid is going to grow up with a rich mommy and daddy?
If his kid does fall in his daddy's footsteps you know he will have all the toys/money to see if he can drive like Childers did/doing for his grandkids.
Beside isn't it the grandparents job to spoil their grandkids?

I see it the same way. What would people have Childress do, have all the money and tell the kids to suck it? Childress is doing the same thing all families with money do. I don't blame him. If i had that kind of money my kids and grandkids would be getting the same deal and the Dillon boys.Comment

The Dillon boys have one thing that a lot of rich punks don't have. That is talent. With all the money in the world, you're not going to win if you don't have the talent. Sure they got the best equipment but many they race against have and had the best also. I watched them finish first and second one night at Volusia winternationals.
