  • Golden Gate Reunion?

So, who all here went to the Golden Gate Speedway Reunion yesterday?

Gordon Lee between James and Gene Adler, owners of the restored Jack Arnold Mustang:

The "Freight Train", Jim Fenton, and "The Chief", Bobby Brack; both former winners of the Florida Governor's Cup State Championship (Brack in 1966, Mr. Fenton in 1979):

Tow more former Governor's Cup winners: Robert Hamke (1969 and 1977), and Leapin' LeRoy Porter (1983):

Ricky Coffin had a nice setup in memory of his dad, "The Gentle Giant", Richard Coffin:

      Awesome

Saw so many of the guys that I used to watch when I was a kid . Lots of pictures of the ones who are gone too. Also met Ricky Smallwood for the first time and didn't realize we went to high school together.

There were easy 200+ people there during the day! I was able to catch up with some of my childhood heros! And met one for the first time yesterday Robert Hamke!

Saw/talked to some of the best drivers from Florida over the years:

Robert Hamke, Jim Fenton, Gordon Lee, Leroy Porter, Dave Dunkin, Bobby Brack, Milton Burysek, Jim Childers, Bo Hammond, Wade Simpson, Butch Davis, Bobby Alexander, Gene Stewart, Stan and Shana Butler, Bryan Riddle, Larry Tyler, Terry DeCaire, Jimmy Owens, Cush Revette, Donnie Reed, John Gamble, Vernon Hart Jr, Gene Adler, Frank Fyfe, Wayne Blevins, Richard Brinson, Perry Lovelady, Charlie Sanderson, Don Rehm, Jimmy Prater, Terry Hahn, Robert Thompson, Jim Gulley, Joe Melnick, Randy Gay and one the Gate's reunion planners Randy Alvarez.

These where just some of the drivers that were there, not counting the drivers family members, car owners, crewmembers, track workers and fans!

Thanks go out to everyone that had a hand into pull this great day off!

Let's do it again next year folks!

Ricky, man, I need to get ahold of you, brotha If *that* many guys were there, I'm gonna come up with something for next year's deal. More than likely, I won't be able to make it there due to being in Ohio and working and stuff, but, *if* I can get something to you, I might have you (or one of the other attendees) take care of it for me
