Terrible Late Model wreck at Showtime Speedway

Dennis Neighbors Sr. had a very bad wreck during qualifying at Showtime Speedway. His throttle stuck and he hit the turn 4 wall. He is in the hospital with a broken neck.

Same here, wasn't able to make it to Showtime last weekend but was upset to hear about this, staying tune hoping everything turns out okay

I wish Denny a speedy recovery, and hope he has a full recovery! I have watched him race for years at the old Sunshine and Desoto Speedways. He and his family are the staples of short track racing in our community.

I do have two questions about the track, do they require head and neck restrants for the late model class, and if so, was he wearing one?

Second question, I have gone to showtime three times since it has opened, and every time cars come out of turn two, two wide, I cringe, because of that blunt opening in the wall coming out of turn two. That is a very dangerious spot on the track, I really wish they would close that up. Are there any plans for closing up that hole or entrence?

Update on Denny Sr's surgery - He is out and resting well. Six hours of surgery. He is scheduled for a second surgery this Friday. We will continue to bring you updates and again thank you for your prayers and privacy for the family at this time.

I have a couple pictures of the car, its not recognizable...in fact it doesnt even look like a car! But as respect for the family I will not post them until they approve.

New update. . Dennys surgery has been postponed till Monday. The track also confirmed that he did break his neck in the accident.
