I know very little about Traction Control, other than by traditional means (driver, setup, etc), but it seems to me that if I wanted a great tech man today he better know LOTS about it if it's going to be illegal. Because we ALL know it's being used at the track this weekend, if you don't think it is you better think again.
If all the big sanctioning bodies are having trouble policing it how can we expect any of our local tracks to? He may be able to detect the cheap ones, but he's probably not going to catch the latest and greatest and we ALL know someone there WILL have it.
I'd love to hear Mr Lewis or Ricky Brooks weigh in on this.
You will never see Donnie on here.. He doesent do drama.
Ricky on the other hand will im sure..
No employee should have a car competing at the same track they work at. The Ticket Taker, scorer, Tech person, Hot Dog salesperson, no one!
Yea... It's a conflict of interest that's a BIG mistake if they do that. In the end blood is thicker than water. And even if they come up with having someone else teching the mods, that won't work either. They need someone that is not affiliated w/ any car or person that owns or races a car to do it. Unfortunately the track owners only can pay these guys so much per event to work for them. And in the end when your there from noon till midnight and make $100 for 12 hours if work, and the commitment of every Saturday and not to say to being yelled at by someone that you had to throw out because they weren't right. It's not worth it especially if the man has a family.
That even though it was a conflict of interest that we were racing against the techmans car it isn't solely his car if I am correct it also belongs to his brother. Donnie has always been nothing but nice to me and my team. He is a good man with a good nature. There was never a race that he didn't come to the trailer and say thanks for coming.....glad to see you. But After racing against his car on several occasions then seeing the article and pictures it pissed me off...............Any type of traction control is a dam DISCRACE of our sport period. If the Daytona CD1 is just the latest and greatest ignition system than its going to open the door for any ignition we want to run. We need to mandate that we use 1 type of ignition like the MSD.

Since it appears everyone is using them anyway, just make them legal. Heck, use today's technology. Use fuel injection on modern 6 cyl. engines. Give the class a few years to make the transition and in the meantime, use weight as an equalizer and let the older 8's run against the newer 6 cylinders. It's been a long times since I've heard a bunch of bumblbees running around the track.
Donny has been on the track crew at NSS the last few races we've done there. Always comes to greet us and thank us for coming. Gonna' miss seeing him there today.

RIP Jack Smith and Kim Brown. Many thanks for all you have done for our sport.
Go back to IMCA rules and there will be no need for traction control.
There would also be more cars. just sayin.
And just for fun, where in this thread does it say " new tech man bringing his car to outrun you all while he techs you"?
I didn't see it anywhere.
We raced his car at the beginning of this season. A bunch of us. And Winger.....Really? The mods already have too much. We cant let ignition systems get out of control. Hell most places cant tech the MSD's.

Donnie OWM car is parked and is not being raced. I also have hired Darrel Jackson as a tech man also so it not just Donnie teching for us at Citrus County Speedway. Look forwarded to seeing all you OWM drivers this upcoming race 10/5/13

Actually, I was being sarcastic with that statement. I can see why you might not have thought so though. I would like to see some modern stock style engines being raced, such as the fuel injected 6 cylinders.
Someone told me last night that Citrus was not going to have any more FUPS. (I think they meant FUPS Triple 50 lappers, NOT the LM's ) I need to know if the FUPS LM will be running during the rest of this year... ...Someone (From Citrus) needs to help clarify this... thanks in advance.......Luv the FUPS LM's ...OSF
