  • Any former Northerners still like to keep up with the northern racing action?

Check out some of the weekly videos done by Sids Vault Productions and Short Track Racer...

Give some major support to these guys! I had the pleasure of working for Sid's View in the past and can tell you it's one of the most honest depictions from a fans view point you will ever get. Short Track Racer comes straight from Stafford Motor Speedway SK Modified Driver Sean Foster and is definitely good for more than a couple laughs!

Thanks for posting, I used to live up north and go to Stafford Motor Speedway every Friday night. Huge fan of all mods.

It's too bad they moved TV coverage of the Whelen tour to Fox Sports 2 as it's behind a paywall on Brighthouse. Will hopefully be switching to DirecTV soon so I can watch the few televised events they have each year again!

Thanks Phil--I had never seen "Short Track Racer". Seems to be in the same mold as Sid'sView with less in-camera shots. After watching the fields at these tracks it seems hardly worthwhile to drive an hour or so, pay the admission, and watch 10 car features and 4 - 5 car heats, that are so familiar down here. It's no reflection on the guys down here who work their butts off building/maintaining them, or the guys whom drive 'em. But from a fan's perspective, you're going to see professional entertainment and the short fields just don't cut it.

There's another group of mods up north. I think it's now called the Valenti Tour (used to have a different sponsor). They show up at different tracks throughout New England and New York and bring 25 - 30 cars to almost all of their shows. And they're not the :big boys" up there. That title belongs to the Whelen Tour.

A different world up there, as far as modifieds go.

It wasn't always like this "down here".
