I like the Deland Raceway ticket that says they will race, whether it's "Rain or clear". What other tracks have had a "rain or shine" policy?

A little rain can make for some exciting action. Anyone who's been on the Little 500 Kart track in the rain knows what I mean. It's some WILD action!

I think the oval tracks in England also will run in the rain, if needed.

The summer shootout at Lowes Motor speedway for the legends cars runs rain or shine. Took the green flag once with it raining so hard you could not see the people in the stands.

The 'UNLIMITED MODIFICATION' class would have been a sight, should try it to in today's world--heck, the tight rulebook and teching don't seem to be building huge field of cars.

Have hundreds of old newspaper print ads from the late 70's and early '80s, there was something about the printed ad in Friday mornings paper that always caught my eye, and got the adrenaline flowing for that nights races.
What the promoter wanted, what he had to offer, who was to be there, all were diferent each week. Sure seemed to have brought in a bigger crowd than a TV ad, or Radio ad ever would have.

                Deland Raceway after midnight

I remember some of the best racing I have ever seen, was at Deland Raceway after rain, say from 6:30 till about 10:00PM. Jim Trickey would get on that grader and prep the track and the races would start about 11:00 to 12:00. All the driver would be relaxed because they thought they would not be racing. Jimmy Yawn and Jim Morrison,('63 Chevy 327 and '63 ford fastback 427) put on great racing from back of the pack to the lead. Then a lot of the people at the track would party till the sun came up. Man oh man, back in the day was sure different than today.

The photo in the ad for the Auburndale vs. Hialeah races has the #3 of Don Hutto (Todd Hutto's dad)... Even after most everybody went to Camaros, Don and his trusty Nova would always run right with them...
I'm looking for more old pics of Don Hutto and old photos from Winter Haven/Auburndale for www.floridaracinghistory.com... If you have any please e-mail to me at announcerdave@usa.net...
