  • Larson to Sprint Cup in 2014

Supposedly confirmed and not too much of a surprise that he will be headed to the 42 next year. I think it might be a bit too early for him to jump, but he seems so friggin adaptable and is used to having more HP than traction so what the hell.

Now, the interesting wager would be will he perform better in the less than stellar EGR 42 in his rookie season than Danica in her 2nd season in a SHR entry? I would put my money on him.

My guess is he will be inconsistent but very fast at certain places and tear up a few cars along the way. Whereas she will be consistently 20-something and tear up the same number of cars.

I've been saying for 3 years that this kid is THE newest star in the sport. Lack of experience in the heavier cars is, to him, just another thing to learn how to win in. He's a winner in virtually everything he's ever tried (other than a photo-finish loss to Kyle Busch in the NNS).

Back a few years ago, I thought another guy was too far behind in his experience..... but he did okay himself.... Jimmy Johnson...!

I just hope they are not making the same mistake as with Joey Logano.

Sometimes, in ''minor leagues'', some look amazing because of way better equipment than the average. We have all seen that over and over again.

BUT given same or close or under quality of equipment, against the best of the best, week in week out, from tight bull ring in Tennessee, through the curvy Glen up to the High Bank of Talladega, the game sometime changes.

The kid is great, no way around it. But so are the majority of the 42 other that will surround him. His equipment will be good, so will be the others and many waaaay better.

I hope he is the next( put the one of your choice here), the sport is in need of one. But one more year in Nationwide would not have hurt, even if it's only to learn the tracks .

Kyle Larson should not be spoken of in the same message with Joey L. Kyle has paid his way with talent not simply had his way paid as he acquired some skill. Yes I am a Larson fan The other one I lump with Stephen Wallace

This kid has talent beyond almost anyone I've seen. He reminds me a little of Kyle Busch when he was starting, except he has a personality and seems somewhat humble, and I believe he has more talent. I agree with Andre' that he could have used another year in the NNS but I wouldn't be surprised to see him with a win in the Cup car next year. I don't believe EGR's equipment is off that much. Yeah, he'll tear some stuff up, he'll probably get some of the veteran's mad at him, particularly when he starts beating them regularly. He could make a difference in the sport if Nascar lets him be himself. Jerry, I remember when Jimmy Johnson was picked to run the Cup series also. Like you, I didn't think he'd do much. His most memorable moment was when he wrecked at the Glen. LOL Surprised both of us.

Many said Tony Stewart could have used another year. And then there is Jr... Larson has what it takes, just would liked to see him with a better team.

                  J.J.'s wreck at the Glen.

I'll 2nd. that about J.J. at the Glen, when I saw him go into that tire barrior, I figured he was an ambulance case, but no, he knew just how to handle it.
