Saw that the Top Gun Sprints are running Volusia tonight and thinking about going over if the weather holds... No other tracks are running Sprints, so there just might be a good car count... Anybody else going?

Comming off turn 2 a car pushed a little up in to him, he hit the guard rail right pass the opening to the back pits at full speed.Bounced him back across the track toward the in feild.A very hard blow

At least the Allison's other car finished second in the race with J. O. Nobles driving... Jared's wreck should have never happened... the car that he "ran over" that put him in the mess should have been black-flagged several laps before for going so slowly...
I got there at 6:30 and it looked like there would be no spectators at all... Had the turn four grandstand all to myself for about a half hour, then, all of a sudden, the fans started showing up... ended up with a very decent crowd with the turns 1-2 area packed too...
Pretty good Sprint Car count but the race was not very good... Danny Martin put a hurt on the field and probably would have lapped everyone had it not been for the cautions... Sorta looked like Kyle Busch in a Nationwide race LOL...
Only about 7-8 Sprints were really competitive, but Martin was in a totally different class... He was back driving for the team he was with a couple of years ago when he was dominating everything on dirt here in Florida... Of course they started him on the outside pole, so the race was basically over at the drop of the green... still, I did get my Sprint Car fix...
Car counts in the other classes were nothing to brag about, 10 mods, 10 or 11 LLM, 7 Mini Stocks, 6 or 7 Gladiators and a halfway decent field of Thunder Stocks but not enough to really put on a show... The Modified feature (other than Jared's wreck) was very good though and it was neat to see my old Buddy Rob Underwood get the win in his familiar #09... Wonder how many races Rob has won at VSP over the years?
All in all, a fun night and just good to be back at a race track again with NO RAIN... The show ran a bit slow but not too bad for some folks just getting into the racing business... I left right after the Sprint feature because it was already 10:30, just not enough cars in the other classes to make me want to stay... BRING BACK THE STEAK FRIES!!!

Dave.... ya left too early. I thought ALL the races were pretty good, even though the Sprints were a runaway. Martin is just in a class by himself, and starting on the front row killed any chance of him NOT winning.
The other classes had some real good action, including a 2nd flip by a Thunderstock driver who lost a right rear tire and had the drum dig in, sending him barrel rolling in turn 2.
For a track that is just now rebounding from almost 2 years off, I thought it had the old-time feel that it used to. Lots of families, kids playing together, adults having a beer together, and some good racing.
It was great to be back there again..... I sure have missed the place.

16 cars in the Thunder Stock class (basicly a super stock) would be considered an awesome night on asphalt by most on this forumOriginally posted by ancrdave View Post..
