  • BIG NIGHT AT ELLISVILLE SPEEDWAY! (revisited)

O.K., so after a month of absolutely dreadful Saturday night racing conditions it appears that Mother Nature is gonna give us a break and let us go racin'. Weatherchannel.com sez it's gonna be around 80 degrees with 20-30% of rain at race time (in other words about as good as you can get in late July in FL!). I'll tell you what, I'm draggin' my Sportsman 135 miles to Ellisville to open up my 4bbl on that big, banked, sweeping backstretch. It's "FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT", and you'd better believe it's true. Cram as many of your friends and kin (please shower first) in the family Truckster and y'all get in for $25, that's right all of you for $25. For that small price you get a 35 Lap Street Stock Feature ($500 to Win), a 35 Lap Pure Stock Feature ($400 to Win), a 25 Lap Sportsman Feature with a good field of cars, PLUS Late Models, Modifieds and Hornets. How can you beat that for good family fun at an affordable price? Not to mention, the food is good (and affordable) and the beer is cheap! Come by and say "Hi!" after the feature. I'll see ya there!

Great to meet you and race you last night Scott. But did you really have to show off and out run us at our own track? Looking forward to racing against you again.

Thanks Tim! It was great to meet (and race against) you Sat. night. It was also great to meet "Diamond" Jim Higganbotham and everyone else at Ellisville. You guys made me feel more than welcome my first time there. As far as showing off, Jason Garver gave me all I could handle in that Feature! And hell, I couldn't let him win the OWM, Super Late Model AND Sportsman features! But seriously, we had a great time and it seems every time I go back there the crowd gets a little bigger and bigger. The Ford family and Don Stamford have the right ideas to keep the place growing and improving. It's a long drive for me (home after 3 a.m., thank you adrenaline and 5 Hr Energy!) but I can't wait to come back.

Good to meet you too Scott. You have restored my faith in a crate motor after that run too. Great job.
Hope to see you up there again soon.

Scott is a great Ambassador for Sportsman racing.... the best I've seen in years.

Hope you make it to the Gov. Cup BBQ I host every year. I'd be proud to shake your hand.

Thanks for the kind words Jerry. I just love racing and want to do my part to make it better wherever and whenever I can. I'm sorry I couldn't make the Modified Reunion in February (but I did let Woody Pitkat and Ted Marsh know about it) but I will do my damnedest to make the Governor's Cup and share a beverage with you at your BBQ and get the pleasure to meet you. Do you have the BBQ the afternoon before the big event on Saturday?
