  • Prayers For Randy Tissot

One of the best drivers I ever witnessed behind the wheel, Randy Tissot, has been placed in hospice care with back cancer and other problems... He was the one driver who could intimidate the likes of Gary Balough, Bobby Brack and Dick Anderson... Ran a few Winston Cup races in 1973-74 before moving to North Carolina where he ran short tracks there and with the NASCAR Late Model Sportsman... His son Lee became quite a driver too and still races today... Randy was a terror in South Florida but traveled a bit too and even won the 1965 Late Model championship at Orlando Raceway. He won both the Hialeah and Palm Beach LM titles in 1970 driving the "Bean Pickers" No. ZERO. Randy actually won the 1973 Governor's Cup race at Golden Gate but a scoring error showed him to be a lap behind Wayne Reutimann when he passed Wayne late in the race. Even Reutimann states that he never lapped Tissot, but "you take a win however you can get it." Keep the Tissot family in your prayers, please...

One of the first late model drivers I worked with a good guy and a great talent. this is not good news.
    The money comes and goes.
The trophy we get to keep.

This is very sad news indeed. He always put on a good show at Eau Gallie and I remember him for his smoothness in the corners. While not one to back off or move over he was still a very clean driver and had the respect of the drivers and fans as well. My prayer are with the Tissot family at his dreadful time.
