Agreed with Jerry on all counts... Bandos are a show killer like grading a dirt track after every heat.....

Why not have a stand alone race on sunday afternoons every other week or so? Run Legends, Bandoleros, Go Karts and Quarter Midgets. They can get more track time and the track can get another source of revenue. Win-Win-Win.

well if your going to drop them because of low car counts there would be other classes gone before the legends and bandoleros .

Yea like the E-Mods, Open Engine Mods and Pro Lates. Now with the Open Engine Mods on Slicks (I know It's been awhile they have been on them) I just got my engine fixed and ready to put it in when I get back from Tennessee and put the engine in and my car will be there (Speed World). Just hope I get some extra money from my auto accident. Yea I know some of you think, Damn the bad luck it didn't kill him. Almost got your wish.

From a stand point of a Re Grand opening of sorts with the Mighty Sprint cars why put them on.Show stinker. Is it good for the kids absolutly yes.But Big picture they shouldent be the show they should be this is what you can do if you get involed w racing....Before the first Green flag falls they should run there race or after the last checked.Even at intermission would be excellent ideas.Nothing personal w a kid racing, its the entertanment value for admission.

The kids want to race in front of a crowd, that's only natural. There hasn't been a crowd at Orlando in years of course, but you can't blame the kids for wanting an audience.

But I do blame this class for losing the crowd at Speedworld. Its ancient history now, but in the 2000-2001 timeframe, the track was pretty healthy. However, they over-emphasized the Bandos to the point of irritating the customers. They ALWAYS got a lot of practice, even if we got none or little, they ALWAYS ran heats, even if we didn't, and they ALWAYS opened the show. Naturally this was followed by long on-track interviews of the top 3. It didn't matter if it was the same 3 kids every week.

The way the class was presented was an absolute show killer, and I know for a fact that it ticked off some fans and started the downward spiral of Speedworld business.

The problem with Orlando is that they look so slow running on the infield track. At Showtime or Auburndale, at least they look faster, but at Orlando there is no getting around the fact that the infield track makes them look like toys.

I understand that kids want to race, and that it is to our advantage to get them involved at a young age. However, I agree with the idea of running them in the time between the end of racecar practice, and the start of the show at 8.

The little track was not in the infield till 2003. the car count and fan base started up in 2002 and 2003> the all time car count for OSW was 185. It happened 2 years. First time in 87 then in 2004
In 2000 the car count at OSW was in the 60s in 2004 it was over 100 every week
. The Kids started the clime to the big cars out of the kids programs.
In 2006 the ins co and FASCAR tried to stamp our kid racing. Killed the Sat night kids show at OSW. Told the parents that each of them had to buy a $500 ins deal or the could not race.
Alburndale had the kids class and didn't force the $500 ... and the cars left OSW.
You have to build the car count with young racers.

having bandos on a regular race card

Is a lot like adding 3 pounds of lard to 5 pounds of hamburger. Its a great way to make a race card look like it has more than it does. When you have 13 and 14 year olds racing trucks,4 cylinder classes and even late models what sense is there in having 3 eleven year olds slowing down the race card?Let them race champ karts (at least most times they have more of those than 2 or 3)and then they can move up to legends or 4 clindrs or whatever. In the 4 years ive been in florida the most bandos I've seen on the track at once is 6..One night at Desoto they had 1.They ran a heat AND feature just for him and he couldnt even finish his feature..They had to push him across the finish line.Im all for getting kids involved but come on.There has to be a better way than bandos.
