2000 Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte confirmed Tuesday he will not accept any offers to race Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway. That means his 704-race consecutive starts streak will officially come to an end in Sprint Cup. Labonte, 49, has been a part of every event in NASCAR’s top series since starting the 1993 Daytona 500, a 19-year mark of consistency and excellence. With older brother Terry now running a limited schedule, a former two-time Cup champion himself, that means the starting grid will be “Labonte-less” in a Cup event for the first time since Ontario in November, 1978.

probably about the end of the line
At least as far as sprint cup for Bobby. Not too many teams looking for 50 year old drivers. But Nascar should get they're heads out of they're asses and make the truck division a place for guys like him and the old veterans to go to.They can still draw much needed fans to these races, while being a great measuring stick for the young up and comers.Let kyle bush and kevin harvick play in the nationwide series when they want to get some kicks and use the trucks the way the old grand american series once was for guys like tiny lund, red farmer etc.sigpic
