Actually looks like a good move... At 2:30 heavy rain is just moving into the Bithlo area and more is building rapidly... Looks like a big wet mess for this afternoon and evening... Hope it improves for everyone on Saturday...

One thing that stays consistent with OSW...... they sure give up easy. It's been this way for years now. Nobody even TRIES to get a show in.

i live in bithlo 5 min from track you would need a boat to race beejn like this every day into the night good call by calling it early that way you could make other plans instead of driving out here to turn around and going home its called looking at the radar and weather reports this time of year it rains every eveningi been in florida since 72 always been like that just change the months you race in and you would race every friday and sta nights no chance of rain one more point your average fan want come to the race track if there is any chance of rain they will go out to eat and a movie i no my spelling is bad

I wasn't just using tonight as an example. How many times have they cancelled by, like Wednesday if there was storm forecast for the weekend? Half the time it blows through early, leaving Friday & Saturday with gorgeous weather.

We all know it rains this time of year, but we also know it stops after awhile. It's nights like that they (and everyone else) they could at least TRY.

I think racers would tow out there even on semi-ugly nights if they knew the track would do everything possible to race. But as it is, they know the tracks will just give up.

This year, Speedworld has proven itself very resilient when in comes to racing in bad weather. About 6 weeks ago, they dried the track, started around 9 and got the show in. Last year, it would have been cancelled; this year they toughed it out.

its not just the racers im referring to...its the fans...your average fan is not going to come to a track if theres any chance of rain and sit on wet bleachers for 2 hours waiting for the track to dry...you need fans in the stands to pay the bills...

Wrong. I have been at the track for a lot of cancellations this year and they have waited and waited and waited many times.

                      Your living in the past.

Oh, by the way... It's 8:40 right now and pouring at OSW.

I remember when Clyde was still around he would wait until midnite or later and didn't care if there was only 2 people in the stands and 4 cars total. My how times have changed.

one nightI told him its 9:00 and there are 50 people in the stands... He told me to get it dry and start the races. Then he told the fans to go to the tower and he would send them some coffee and a free ticket for next week.

Im sure some drivers rember the vote.

i guess you are all right if you are talking about 30 years ago when you had standing room only a pit full of cars i mean 100's i mean come on now you are lucky on a beautiful night to get 30 to 40 cars overall and MAYBE 100 fans
Not trying to be negative about calling races because of rain...just being truthful

Holy crap people.. The right call was made... The weather sucked Friday night....
We would been one of those people at the track in the rain, but I am glad they cancel led.. They already have 60 bucks of mine banking a raincheck from the rainout on wings print night.

                              Thankful for Saturday...
