Bill Miller was in the hospital for a while after this and it may have ended his career...

Yes it ended Bills career. The crash injuried his optic nerve and left hi almost blind.

Looked like the *crash* knocked the ROOF right off of Miller's car.

Bill was a tough dude, knowing the risks runnin' through the "X". I saw where he got spun early, got goin', and then risked it gettin' across the intersection at the back of the field.

When I got to Bill he was on the right side of the car and the batt exploaded.
I spent the next few days at the hospital with hem and it was touch and go for a wile. He was a great racer and a good guy.

              E Crew...

If the video is accurate i am totally impressed with the speed of the safety crew... im sure their efficiency helped save the lives of the drivers. also good to know there was an ambulance there. good job...

Damn! Sorry to hear that about Bill! I've moved away from Tampa before this happen.

Goes to show you what the drivers where made of back in the day with less safety equipment.

Not saying today is less dangerous in race cars, just total different times back then.
