  • Calling All Sportsman And Fans!!!

This Saturday Night June 22nd Ellisville Speedway is having a BIG 50 Lap Sportsman race with a GUARANTEED $1000 TO WIN!!! Better yet Citrus, Showtime, Auburndale and Full Throttle DO NOT HAVE SPORTSMAN ON THE CARD THIS NIGHT. The car count potential could be huge. For the fans admission is ONLY $10 (kids 11 and under free!). Robert Ford has stuck his neck out and leased Ellisville (aka Lake City Speedway, Columbia Motorsports Park) and it's really coming together up there. As a racer or a fan why not show your support for people that are busting their butts to keep tracks alive (instead of closing them)? A great car count and good crowd would really help give this place a boost back toward its former greatness. It's a long ride for a lot of us, but it's not a bad ride at all up I-75. It'll be worth the trip for a fantastic night of racing with Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Hornets also on the card. As a Racer, why not get away from the crash-n-bash bullrings and open that motor up on the long straightaways of Ellisville's unique 1/2 mile layout? They are also working on getting more sponsorship to increase the purse from 2nd on back too! So racer or fan alike, come on out and do your part to help keep racing strong in North Central Florida. Pits open at 4, Racing starts at 8. Any questions? Who's in???????

          8. $ 100
          9. $ 75
          10. $ 70
          11. $ 60
12th place on down will pay $50

If you are interested in being a sponsor for this race, please leave me a private message here. For $200 Sponsor, we will include 15 FREE general admission passes for this race (one per family) and will have your business name announced throughout the evening.

My bad Sunshinestate. Coulda sworn I didn't see it on the schedule, but you are right. Didn't intend to put out bogus information. The two tracks are very far apart so I'm hoping both will get good fields since both have been recently resurrected and need some success. And to Pat M, WOW! 2 cars. Awesome support! Hopefully a lot of Citrus cars come too, since it's not that far for them.

                    Sportsman Race

With the information that I keep getting in, this is going to be a BIG show. As you notice on our "Practice Schedule" for this weekend, it would be recommended to get there early. The pit gates will only be open during the times allotted on the schedule. We have received word that there should be quite a field of cars in some of the other divisions this weekend so we need to make sure that we use every bit of our time wisely. Every driver that comes through the pit gates will be given a copy of the "Practice Schedule" times and is being asked to try to be on time when your division is called for. The flagman has been informed that we need to stick to this schedule for everything to stay on schedule.

Keep watching our web site and the other MEDIA areas for additional information coming up at Ellisville Speedway.

Are they running their track rules or are the FUPS sportsmans welcome?

Confusion here... first post above says races start at 8:00 P.M. then the schedule of events (?) posted a few post above this shows first Green Lap Heat at 4:30 for 10 min and 2nd Heat starts at 4:40 .... is it me? or does something have to be cleared up so people don't show up for a 8 pm start only to find out the actual race began at 4:30... Bob I agree the wording is poor. ALL races start after the drivers meeting at 7:30pm with first green flag at 8pm for the heat races. All the times should be next to the alloted practice schedule above.

BTW I will be bringing my Longacre scales for the Friday practice and will be available to all the cars if needed in tech.
                          See you there..

                            sportsman race

I will try to clear up some of the confusion for all.

First of all, we will be running Ellisville rules, but they are very close to the FUPS rules. I believe that Scott Garritty is planning on making the trip with some of the others. We allow quick change rear ends and there is no weight penalty for them. You can take a lok at our rules on our web site.
                            www.ellisvillespeedway.net

The time schedule is a little confusing. We will start practice at 4:30 with TWO 10 minute sessions for Sportsman limited to 10 on the track at one time. Following that, we will take a 10 minute break and open the Pit Gates for traffic to cross the track. Then there will be 10 minute practice sessions rotating for all other divisions. Following that, we will take a 5 minute break for traffic to cross the track. We will then start a second practice session just like the first.

Drivers meeting is planned for 7:30
First heat race to be lined up at 7:45 (Sportsman)
                            National Anthem at 7:50
Green flag the first heat race at 8:00

Order of heat races will be:
                            Sportsman
                            Modified
                            Street Stocks
                            Pure Stocks
                            Hornets / Strictly Stock

Order of Feature races will be:
                            Hornets / Strictly Stock
                            Pure Stocks
                            Street Stocks
                            Modified
                            50 Lap Sportsman

I intentionally started the heats with the Sportsman and had them run their Feature race last allowing the most amount of time for car repairs or change in set up for the BIG race. Each car as it goes through the pit gate will be handed a complete schedule for the evening.

                            See you all Saturday Night

Sorry for the confusion, it's all my fault. I copy and pasted from an email and the order got all screwed up. Thanks Don (ocalacamper) for clearing that up. To James Wright, as far as I can tell FUPS and Ellisville rules are pretty much identical except that Ellisville cars are allowed 58% left side weight to FUPS 56%. I was also told that there will be no weight penalty for quick changes and a 50 lb weight break for the extra distance (like we get in FUPS). Actually, I'm hoping a lot of the FUPS guys come and support this event. I think if there is a strong showing from us then maybe Rick Williams and Robert Ford can work out a FUPS Sportsman stand alone date. Hope you can make the trip James, sounds like it's going to be an awesome night!
