  • East Bay Saturday Night

East Bay was all set to have races Saturday night. While almost everyone else was rained out, they posted they were racing. Then the rains came. Here's a picture of the track after about 2 1/2 inches of rain in an hour. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this.

BTW, I didn't take the photo. I saw it on facebook.

We rolled in the pits about 4:15 and it was overcast but looked clear to the west. Weather radar showed a little possible shower but all clear behind it so I felt pretty confident we would be racing. Then suddenly the sky darkened in all directions and it just hammered rain incredibly hard. Every low spot in the pits and parking lot instantly filled up like a lake so i've got to assume the track did as well. Finally we rolled out at about 5:30 and it was just absolutely pouring. Pulled up the radar and magically that all clear to the west had become a giant ball of red. It didn't stop raining for hours. I think they made a good call by trying to get it in because by all forecasts and looks at the radar we were good to go, but man...sometimes nature is tricky!
