Tried calling a couple times today and all I got was the answering machine that was full, with last weeks message on it about the last Saturday nites race with the Sprint Car show. Just wanted to find out if they are going to run and have any Super tires. Anyone have any info? Thanks.

"Everyone is hoping that the tropical system affecting Florida this week will
continue to move swiftly off to the northeast so that Orlando SpeedWorld can get back to NASCAR Whelan All-American Series action Friday night.
Disappointing is the only way you could describe things last Saturday as the
pits were full with racers and fans were filing in for what looked to be a
fantastic program. Seventeen TBARA Sprint Cars were already in attendance, with a few others waiting in the wings checking the weather before what started as a brief shower turned into a full-blown sea breeze collision that dumped at least two inches of rain, forcing cancellation of the program. The event will be made up on Saturday, July 27.
This week, the Super Late Models return to competition and will be joined by
the E-Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Super Stocks and Strictly Stocks.
Pit gates open at 4 pm with grandstands open at 6 pm. Racing begins at 8 pm.
Adult admission is $12 with kids aged 12 and under free of charge."

OSW is headed for an EPIC FAILURE if communication is not restored via the website and messageboard post. Is this so-called "dream team" asleep at the wheel. Come on guys, get it together. Don't be the people that put the final nail in the coffin for the old girl.

My husband and I are rooting for this track to make a come back. We enjoy the racing there. It is closest to us. The communication is lacking. I would be happy with improved communication, and... Clean bathrooms. We will continue to support the track...

There is just no excuse for not having a real live person answering the phone at race tracks from Tuesday thru Saturday. A large percentage of people aren't calling so they can listen to a long drawn out advertisement and schedule for the upcoming weekend. And that message is often a week or so behind anyway. But you're forced to listen anyway and at the end you have no other option but to leave a message that's almost never returned and you still don't have an answer to your question. Or just as often you listen to the whole upcoming schedule only to be told at the end that the mailbox is full and won't accept new messages.
Every track needs to have someone answering phones during normal business hours, ready to give weather up-dates, track schedules, ticket prices, and able to take actual messages for particular track officials.

Haha, it was just a bathroom thing. A few years ago we had spirited debates on here about the importance of clean restrooms at a track. There were actually some who thought they didn't matter. Not me. It is a fundamental. Why would Rex be upset????

Clean restrooms are one of the top 5 "Must do" things at any track, according to the RPM workshops held twice a year (Racing Promoters Monthly), which is basically a 'think tank' for short track promoters around the country.
National Speed Sport News covered this event for years, and I would always look through the attendees list.... and it was VERY rare to see any Florida promoters on that list, which is usually at least a couple hundred promoters strong. I saw more dragstrip and road course promoters on there than people from Fla.
The best and brightest in the business get together, share what works and what doesn't (ever evolving at that), yet very few around here bothered.
But one constant for all these years.... clean restrooms, ESPECIALLY the women's room. Girls won't put up with the filth that many men will.
If Momma ain't coming with you, you've got a battle on your hands to get out to the local tracks.....

This, as said by Matt is a must! Websites and message boards get the word to some but even in this day of technology many, many of us rely on the horse's mouth for information. A live person.......who knows the answers should be available by phone during some sort of regular business hours and an answering machine otherwise to tell you when those hours are.Originally posted by Matt Albee View PostThere is just no excuse for not having a real live person answering the phone at race tracks from Tuesday thru Saturday. So true. I emailed the mgr of the track... The following week, the bathroom was partially clean.... Following week. Back to the mess it was.If Momma ain't coming with you, you've got a battle on your hands to get out to the local tracks.....
Told my hubby I have a hard time recruiting friends if the bathroom is dirty... Wish I could just aim and shoot like a man.

Hey Rex... Wouldn't you agree???
