I like short and sweet,to the point "Southern Speedrom" my self, but anything new is good!
Keeping a old name of anyplace that's not a super sacsefull place always,is just not wise, were as a new name can get new fans, the old diehards are going to be there no matter the name if there not iditis and if they are you don't want them anyway. Just the facts as I see them.

still like gulf coast speedway, this is still a racetrack, not an amusement park.

You are right. A racetrack is NOT an amusement park.

Oh, amusement parks in Florida have HUGE attendance numbers.

Oh, race tracks in Florida have virtually no attendance (other than the pits).

So maybe tapping into the "amusement" idea is not so bad.

Is it not really a "show"?

Maybe they could have "wenches" serving the grog.

Or during intermission some Pirate Mud Wrestling....

                  Dead on target!!!!

We need some new ideas. Check the number of cars in the field. Low attendance have been the norm. It's time to shake it up!!!!!

                    you want an idea?

Instead of occasionally throwing a few tshirts into the stands have a track employee fire some rounds from a paintball gun into the stands and tag the idiots who cant take they're hats off during the national anthem....

I kinda like 'Pirates Cove'. It even has its own built-in alibi.... every time the officials 'miss' something, they can claim that they had a patch over 1 eye...!

The Black flag could have the Jolly Roger (skull & crossbones) on it.

The flagman could be dressed as a Swashbuckler.

Kids could have a Treasure Hunt each week for, say, $100 dollars worth of quarters stashed around the property in different locations.

Have Dollar Grog, or Rum & Coke nights for the adults.
I definitely like the 'wenches serving beers' idea.

I've seen those road-legal 'Gasparilla' boats driving around. Use one of those (with a pirate captain of course), to load up the kids at intermission for a tour through the pits, and a Meet & Greet with the drivers on the pit side. Free eye patches and a drawing for a couple T-shirts

There's lots of possibilities with a 'theme'.

It pisses me off to no end to see some fool wearing a hat and/or talking or walking to/from concessions during the National Anthem... worst yet, at one track (Here in Fl), the man that leads the prayer before the race goes and stands beside the track crew and talks with a track employee during the National Anthem (bet he'd flip out if someone did that during his praying) SHAME SHAME...

Everglades Skyfire Speedway.Florida's infamous for wildfires, the track sits next to an airport, and everglades gives it identity to an approximate location.Insert your favorite theme here.
