  • Awesome SLM race at FTS!!!!

There were only 13 but some of the best around. Race was won by Anthony Campi followed by Joe Boyd. Joe about drove me crazy! Now that man can race a car!!!... Chris Fontaine was 3rd. I think Scofield was 4th.
.It was one REALLY exciting race. Had a fairly good crowd... the pits were full. All in all a GREAT race night!
Now I am going to go lay down and watch the insides of my eyelids! SO SATISFIED! Thank you Kevin and staff for another SUPER night! OH... and thank you for bringing the bologna sandwiches over to the pits. they were sooooooooo good. Cooked to perfection! ;-)

Who were the two that broke?I came in late in the hot lap session.I have to say i love that track to spectate at but was unimpressed by the car count and the crowd last night. As well as inconsistency in officiating on a couple of the late model restarts.

$11,000+ purse for late models, 77 cars in pits, medicore fan count, things need to pick up soon.

Tonka, the new owner has had the track open for 3 weeks, the guy is not going to turn it around in 3 weeks, it may take years to get the track back to where it was in the old days.

Zerofor, David Green was one of the cars that broke in practice, the other car was a silver number 2, not sure who that was.

                  One curious observation from saturday

All the old Desoto signage still remains almost a month in,it is odd that if you wanted to rename the old girl you would'nt have slapped some new lipstick on the signs yet if not to only dispose of the old logos.(im fine with the fact they havent yet by the way.]

                    thanks31

I think the silver 2 might have been Herb Hoefler from Floral City.If it was the same car i saw at Citrus County the week before.

Rome wasnt built in a day, signs have been ordered and it takes time to have them all made. some are waiting to see how things work while the rest are just racing and having fun at the new FTS. The car count and crowd is the best it has been for years, so for that, i am thankful to the fans and drivers that have come out to support the track. It is only going to get better.

How long did it take to build Rome? By the way, FTS is not Rome, it's not even Rome GA.
I'd have to agree, what's the point of dropping the Desoto name against the overwhelming fan and racer support for keeping the name, and then leaving a lot of the branding anyway? Grab a paint brush and paint over the Desoto signs. Put a canvas cover over the signs. Send the track crew out and unbolt the signs and take them down.
The track has had a real good feel to it over the last couple of weeks. It's headed in the right direction for sure.

I hope to make it down there this year. It has been ages since I've been to the track.
