So this Saturday night at Citrus County Speedway the FUPS Triple 50s Tour of OWM's, Sportsman and Trucks rolls into Inverness. NASCAR is having their big "All-Star" event on TV. Instead of lining Brian France's pockets with more billions that his wife will try to extract from him in divorce procedings, why not come out to see the working-class All-Stars of Florida Short-Track racing instead? The planets have seemed to aligned and there are no OWM, Sportsman or Trucks on the card at Showtime (closed), Full Throttle, Auburndale, New Smyrna (Sportsman reg. show only) and Orlando is still running Fridays. With a good purse up for grabs and the chance to run against the best drivers in each of these classes for all these tracks, I ask you. ARE YOU UP TO THE CHALLENGE? In true All-Star format these races are each 50 laps and feature fan-pleasing Bowman-Gray "cone" restarts. I race Sportsman and I'm putting it out there and calling out the best of the best. Gary McFall, that car is fast but can you beat the best at Citrus? How about Aaron Williamson, Mark Peterson, Roger Welch, George Gorham, Steve Gainey and Mark Nelson? Are you up for competing with hot-shoes Brandon Morris, Bobby Mobley, Craig "Beaner" Cuzzone, and James Wright from the FUPS Sportsman Series along with baaaad fast Citrus regulars like Mike Bell, Jay Witforth and Andy Nicholls? Someone once said "To be the best, you have to beat the best." Critter, you're not off the hook either. Are you (and the Citrus brass) willing to put up the bonus money that you offer weekly if the fields are really large? If you pay them, they will come. Who needs NASCAR when we can have our own "All-Star" night with big fields of the best racers in each class battling it out in exciting fashion on Citrus County's 3/8 mile. "One Hot Night", indeed!
