..... Mr Davis. new tires give you 3 tenths for 15 to 20 laps depending on how you abuse them. This is a fact whether its slicks or treaded. The treaded will not take much abuse and will not come back during cautions for the most part. When we buy treaded we have two different types of tire the 450 and the 650. Slicks are all the same f-53's. It definately helps tire management. As stated we can get two competitive races from slicks. And this is just my opinion but the big motors are not a big advantage at a bullring. Im sure at desoto or New symrna they make a difference. In my opinion we should race on the much better tire and regulate the motor. Sunshine did this before they closed and it seemed to work well. JMO................D MillerDoug Miller # 53

Hope he isn't going to slicks. We will be buying 4 tires every race. I say this based on how rough and old that surface is. It will kill the tires in a race. Yes you can get away with two at Showtime just don't see it happening at FTS. Just my opinion.

Good point
Never though of that 71. The 450's may be a problem too.Doug Miller # 53

I do know the E-53 slicks last a little longer at NSS and are junk on a second race at Lake City(Ellisville). Ellisville track is old and really rough on the slicks. Treaded, grooved, airplane tire..... whatever you call them, seem to go for about 3 races if you don't do a lot of practice. 2 races are about average tho..

Where have you been running lately on slicks?Originally posted by 8modified View PostI just heard that they are going to slicks. Anyone know if it is true.
I'm way out of touch with which track runs different tires.
Are they that diverse or are only a few of the tracks on the grooved tire.Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Showtime ( Sunshine ) Speedway, New Symerna, Orlando and I hope Full Throttle, I would like to race there if they go back to slicks.Originally posted by Benny The Mule View PostWhere have you been running lately on slicks?

The poll that has been taken on this site show the racers want to race on slicks almost 3 to 1. It is a no brainer when the tire is better than the grooved tire and does not give up in the middle of a race and last longer.
Race cars belong on slicks!!!!

it does not matter. the track could let them in free, buy their tires and fuel, and some would still complain. most times the ones who have the most to say, dont show up no matter what. if you are going to race, remember, you are playing in their playground. if you can buy new tires each time, buy them, if not learn to race on old tires. remember, those new tires are only new for a few laps.
