It makes sense.... Which is exactly why it WON'T happen.

Naw, if you allow slicks it just lets them big motor cars win all the time.

I respectively disagree to the mythical "Big Motor" arguement.
        Its still an 8" tire.
Police the traction controls that are out there and the big motor doent hold water.
Give me a racing slick and we'll figure out the rest.

I called Davis Tech and was told that if you run a magnet over the MSD with the car running and it shutoff it has the traction control. I think that the guy at pit exit has a magnet and just before the car goes out it is checked. I hope that what we were told is true and the tracks do try it.

Mike that is not true everywhere we tried the grooved tire and the big motor still win, at least with the slicks we can get away with 2 tires. We did it last night a Showtime and qualified .04 off the pole, you can not do that with grooved tire. Granted there is always the exception but not the norm. They cost the same with less performance and reduced the quality of the longer races as if you piss the tire off it hard to get it back to we're it was.

There are no good reason to split the cars up when we need one tire for all the race tracks. The tracks sell more tires when the fields are larger as well as fuel and pit passes

Bottom line is the guys with money today win most all the time. But occasionally a blind squriell even finds a nut. I remember when FASCAR tried the gear rule and here comes special transmissions (I know because I was accused of building some of them) and out comes the camshafts and heads, new headers, to work with the gear rule. Costs the Racer that could afford it around $5000. And they still won.

Your average tech guy won't find the TC. There are many different variations. It's a witch hunt to properly check for TC. The ignition and tach are the first places to look but they need to be disassembled and inspected by someone that is trained in TC.

So the ribed tire has built in no traction control.
                  Thats funny there.
a good racer wants tires to be black and round and holding air.
rember a old racer answering a young racers qustion.. What tire is the best???
                  Dick said new ones .
most of you wont get it....

                    I agree

With the 8 mod...........We have been saying this for a while. we are finally able to get two races out of the slicks and they are more forgiving than the grooved. I have purchased about 40 sets of tires in 2 1/2 years. As for the dam traction control.............its a sorry ass way for anyone to win and a black eye for our sport..............D. Miller

10" Hoosier Commanches. Let them buy as many as they want, it won't make a difference...

We ran the first 7 races that year with FASCAR and we sat on 7 poles and 2 track records with a motor built just for that rule and about 7000.00. Great idea to cut cost that worked out just fine, our engine builder love rules like that. They checked everything on that car each week and we were legal each time, they even had us change the transmission to a out of the box T10and did not make a difference. The pole that is being taken on this site shows that the racers want a slick to run on. Make Florida a slicks only on Mods and more racers will show up.

it does not matter. the track could let them in free, buy their tires and fuel, and some would still complain. most times the ones who have the most to say, dont show up no matter what. if you are going to race, remember, you are playing in their playground. if you can buy new tires each time, buy them, if not learn to race on old tires. remember, those new tires are only new for a few laps.

As Don says "A good racer wants tires to be black and round and holding air". He forgot to say also no ribs, grooves or tread.

I like the grooved tire better. It also makes it harder to hook them up, which keeps the guy who can't afford a big engine in the game.
