    Kind of odd...

The owner has my current last name, and the Secretary has the last name from my Mothers side of the family...

Maybe my family was involved in racing way before I even realized.

Some cool stuff that you're posting on here Dave!

Sometimes the racing roots go deeper than you think. If you have family around to ask,ask them before it get's too late.Maybe someone even has some cool pictures or item's squirrled away in a chest or attic somewhere.

Polk County Speedway--- was also called Lake Region Raceway, and also Winter Haven Motor Speedway, was a 1/4 mile dirt, then asphalt built in 1951, went dark in 1958.

In 1974, the now Auburndale Speedway was built right on top of it, and still is in operation today.

I was thinking this was where Auburndale is now... Actually Winter Haven Speedway operated right up until Bill Reno re-did the place... I went there once in 1967 or 68... Quarter-mile asphalt track very similar to the old Orlando Raceway...

If it was just before you were born than those weren't racecars, they were Charriots pulled by horses!!!!!

                    ---correction---

                    In my quickness, a correction is needed----Polk County Speedway;

----dirt track from 1952 to 1958
                    ---- asphalt track from 1958 to 1971

1974--new track built on site, and it was called Tri-Cities Speedway.

Probably still utilized the same bathrooms, concessions, and grandstands, even other buildings, because it looks like, those things could not have been built as late as 1974.

                    Lake Region Raceway
                    Polk County Speedway
                    Winter Haven Raceway
                    Winter Haven Motor Speedway
                    Tri-Cities Speedway
                    Auburndale Speedway

Lot's of different names. Desoto is going through that again, now.
