    More freakin trivia

Alright, let's see if I can stump you guys with any of these. (probably not)

1 - Where did Davey Allison win his last race?
2 - When Geoff Bodine took the checkered flag on July 14, 1984, it marked the last Winston Cup event at what facility?
3 - Which two drivers (past and present) born outside of The United States went on to earn Rookie of the Year honors? (Winston Cup / Sprint Cup)
4 - What driver once fielded an all-woman pit crew led by his wife, Kathy in ARCA competition?
5 - Before winning the 1998 Daytona 500 in his 20th attempt, how many consecutive Winston Cup events had Dale Earnhardt run without scoring a victory?
6 - Who was the first driver to win a Winston Cup event in a Ford Taurus?

    2) Lee Petty won in a 1959 Oldsmobile... 59 cars started representing nine different makes of cars... The starting field had 27 Chevrolets, 20 Fords (7 were the Thunderbird model), 4 Pontiacs, 2 Mercurys, 2 Oldsmobiles (Lee and Richard Petty), and one each DeSoto, Edsel and Studebaker...

    3) 1998 Daytona 500 - Bobby Labonte on the pole and Terry Labonte outside pole...

    4) #34 driven by Jim Roper at Charlotte Speedway... He actually finished three laps behind Glen Dunaway, but Dunaway was disqualified handing Roper the win...
Right on all four... Ancrdave, there's gotta be at least one question that you don't know the answer to.... isn't there?????

    Famous Firsts

Here's a few more questions to keep your brain occupied for a while...

1 - Who was the first driver to win a Winston Cup race in an AMC Matador?
2 - What make of car won the very first Daytona 500?
3 - Who were the first brothers to occupy the front row for the Daytona 500?
4 - What was the number of the car that won the very first Winston Cup race?

For question #2, Frasson118 got it exactly right. Islip Speedway was only 1/5 mile.

The answer to question #1 was Bowman Gray Stadium. The race was on April 23, 1962. The race was a scheduled 200 lap event on the 1/4 mile track (only a 50 mile event in the first place). The race was called after 108 laps for rain (only 27 miles long).

The 2 answers nobody came up with are:

Charlie Rudolph in the #04 Sunoco sponsored car

Fonda Speedway in NY had a cemetery in the infield. The back straight has a bow in it to go around the area. Fonda and Islip were both part of what was called the Northern Tour part of the Nascar schedule.

Earlier than that. I think this driver only ran 3-4 races, mostly out of pocket. Sunoco didn't throw any big money or contracts to this guy. For Sunoco, it was strictly to test the waters... the driver hoped it would turn into something bigger.

This is a tough question and a very obscure name in the Nascar world.

Answer to #2 from Jacques..... Islip Speedway, in Islip NY. It a minuscule 1/5 of a mile. Just a hint here.... the 'cemetery' track from my last question was run in close proximity to when they ran Islip.
For question #4.... Was it Sterling Marlin in the No. 94 Oldsmobile?
