The cold hard truth on this 35 degree night at the end of racing is that Jeremy Payne of Springfield Mo. had the best car, a Roush Yates powered GRT, was the best driver, he found the fastest way around the 1/2 mile track, and he was a winner, at times in the latter part of the race he led by as much as half a straightaway over the second place finisher Ryan Gustin.
After taking the lead away from 3rd place finisher Jason Hughes Payne the "Ozark Rambler" never looked back, running where the track was the best and that meant taking some unusual lines thru the corners, going in high and then shooting down across the track to the middle, or rim riding, Payne had the car and found the fast way around Lakeside Speedway.
